๐Ÿ“Œ Straight to the point! Why is the MapleStory ร— Jin collab the absolute legend of K-POP game collabs?

When K-POP artists team up with games, it usually stops at a one-time promo model gig or a short-lived marketing event. But thereโ€™s one collab that got huge love from both players and fandoms and genuinely went down in legend status. Thatโ€™s Nexonโ€™s 'MapleStory' collaboration project with BTS member Jin (Kim Seokjin).

What made this collab hit on a whole different level was that it wasnโ€™t just a simple model castingโ€”Jin, already famous in entertainment circles as a 'heavy Maple user,' actually came in as an intern on Nexonโ€™s planning team, pitched ideas himself, and directly planned the styling items users really wanted along with a brilliantly fun Chuseok event.

๐ŸŽฎ My play style: a 'true Maple user' who was genuinely moved by a world-class idolโ€™s sincerity

Iโ€™ve played MapleStory for years and been through so many collab events, but nothing hit me with that same heart-racing, canโ€™t-look-away excitement like the Jin collab did.

I followed the weekly web variety series 'Office Warrior Kim Seokjin,' and watching Jin fully understand MapleStoryโ€™s tiny systems, player frustrations, and exactly what users wanted made me feel a real bond with him as a fellow gamer. So when the design items that came out of that process finally dropped in-game, I bought them instantly, put them on my character right away, and had such a special kind of fun the whole event period.

๐ŸŽค The 3 key success points that completely won over both users and the fandom

  • Insane immersion through the original web variety show 'Office Warrior Kim Seokjin': The web content showing Jin going to work at Nexon HQ, getting his employee ID, and trading ideas with the MapleStory dev team in planning meetings pulled in millions of views basically the moment it was released. Jinโ€™s deep love for Maple plus his playful, hilarious way of talking made it super engaging for fans who didnโ€™t even play games, and for existing users it created that instant trust of, "Heโ€™s a real real Maple user planning this?!"

  • 'Sincere in-game items' that perfectly nailed what users wanted: The 'Jin Devil' and 'Jin Angel' outfit sets, along with the 'Maple Block' hat, pets, and more, all came from Jinโ€™s own ideas and design input, and they were adorable while maxing out the charm of Mapleโ€™s dot graphics. Since these items were made by an artist who truly knows games and clearly understood what kind of fit and effects users love, they sparked an explosive buying frenzy among players.

  • The 'Chuseok Event with Jin,' which was overflowing with content in the best way: The in-game event held during the 2022 Chuseok season also started from Jinโ€™s own idea. Through a Jin NPC wearing an alpaca costume, players could receive hunting buffs and plenty of growth materials, while enjoying both the holiday mood and the bright, feel-good energy of a K-POP artist at the same time.

โœ Wrapping it up: the most ideal meeting of K-POP and gaming, made possible by sincerity

This was the ultimate proof of just how amazing the synergy can be when you go beyond surface-level marketing and bring together an artistโ€™s real personality with genuine love for a game.

Just like the collaboration between Nexon MapleStory and BTS Jin, which gave unforgettable memories to both gamers and K-POP fandoms, I really hope we get more heartfelt K-POP events that make usersโ€™ hearts race and shine even more brightly across the Maple World!
