From Mounts to Costumes: The Joy of Collecting in Elsword vs Closers

These two long-running, much-loved action MORPGs offer more than just monster hunting,

and I think their real appeal lies in the detailed collection systems that keep you wanting to collect more.

Let's look at some collection features popular with returning players and regulars alike.

Mounts & Pets (Transportation and Adventure Partners)

Elsword: Mounts + Pets

(Mounts: yes, pets: yes)

Mounts have skills with distinctive, flashy visuals, while pets offer a variety of ways to support you in combat.

Along with faster field travel and dungeon clears, there's the satisfaction of filling out your collection

and choosing a mount with a look all its own.

Pets can be extracted and traded,

and some players grind to raise their pets

to unlock the Encouragement active skill.

Taking on raid bosses in Challenge Mode

can earn you pets modeled after those bosses.

As far as I know, 설화 (recommended for DPS and Sage healer characters), 멜로 텐 (recommended for DPS), and a few others are currently strong performers.

Honestly, there's just something satisfying about a full pet list

​

Moving on from pets, let's look at the summon system.

Among summoned mounts, 다크 체이서 is useful for carries (helping low-level players),

while for getting around, 마녀의 빗자루 and 별빛 마녀의 빗자루

are the fastest options I know of. Activate Hyper Acceleration while riding, and you'll really feel the difference.

Closers: Pets

(Mounts: not yet, pets: yes)

Closers doesn't have a mount system yet.

It does have a pet system, though.

The system supports players with pets full of personality.

They add visual flair to your character's movements,

and there's a simple pleasure in collecting pets with unique, anime-inspired designs.

You can also swap skins on the same pet, much like using a wardrobe feature.

Achievements

Next up are achievements—the first thing that comes to mind when I think of playing an RPG.

Elsword: Achievements

You can build your achievement score not just through dungeons and PvP,

but also through adventure, character, community, and item-related activities.

You can choose 3 achievements to display in your achievement showcase.

A high achievement score shows you've put some time into the game,

and your village movement speed buff increases with your rank.

All achievements are account-wide, with completion records and progress shared across characters.

Rank 1: Village Movement Speed Level 1, 2000 points

Rank 2: Village Movement Speed Level 2, 4000 points

Rank 3: Village Movement Speed Level 2, 6000 points

Rank 4: Village Movement Speed Level 2, 8000 points

Rank 5: Village Movement Speed Level 3, 10000 points

As you can see, Noah is my favorite.

There's a title system too, but it's mostly a grind, so I'll save that for another time…

Closers: Achievements

You can earn a variety of achievements and rewards

by completing story quests and meeting specific conditions.

As far as I know, most achievements in Closers are directly tied to contribution points.

Just keep doing your dailies, and you'll have them completed before you know it

You can spend contribution points on a range of useful items,

including Plum Juice (fatigue), Resurrection Capsules, and more.

Costume Wardrobe

Elsword: Magic Wardrobe

You'll find the Magic Wardrobe feature at the bottom of your inventory.

The Magic Wardrobe lets you apply an item's appearance to another hanger item, giving it the look you want. To register a hanger, click “Register Hanger” in the Magic Wardrobe UI, then select the item

you want to register. Once an appearance is registered as a hanger, you can apply it to other items at any time.

For fashion enthusiasts, this is the most useful feature of all.

You can also zoom in for a closer look at your character.

I zoomed in on Noah as an example. So cute.

Closers: Costume Wardrobe

Just as Elsword has its wardrobe, Closers has its own Costume Wardrobe system.

In Closers, almost every paid costume comes with skins.

For skill cut-in frames, town motions, combat motions, effects, lights,

sounds, signatures, combo ratings, and name tags—a whole tasting menu of options—

go with Closers.

​

For satisfying hits and combos, the pride of watching your character grow,

and the full-course fashion experience, I'd recommend Elsword.
