The Mabinogi series is one of Nexon's flagship fantasy IPs and has been loved by players for many years. From the original 《Mabinogi》 to 《Mabinogi Mobile》, which has been attracting plenty of players lately, each title has its own distinct appeal.

Which title is the best place to start for someone new to the series? Here are my recommendations in a Q&A format, based on my own experience playing the games.

Q. Which title would you recommend to someone new to the Mabinogi series?

A. My first recommendation is 《Mabinogi Mobile》.

Of course, the original Mabinogi is an excellent game that remains well loved for its life-skill activities, deep systems, and flexible character progression. For newcomers, though, I think Mabinogi Mobile is a better starting point because it is a little more approachable and less demanding.

You can play on your phone anytime, anywhere, or on PC at home, making it easy to fit the game into your day.

Q. Why is Mabinogi Mobile a good place to start?

A. The main reasons are accessibility and optimization.

Many players used to feel that PC offered the smoothest experience. Since the recent optimization updates, however, the game also runs very smoothly on smartphones, without stuttering.

The graphics are another strength. They retain the original's charm while creating a fairy-tale atmosphere that feels welcoming even to newcomers.

Q. What makes Mabinogi Mobile stand out most?

A. For me, it is the character customization and fairy-tale graphics.

The wide variety of fashion items and the dye system let you create completely different looks, even with the same outfit.

I especially appreciate that you can fully enjoy most of the content without spending money.

You do not need top-tier fashion items to create a good-looking character. Outfits from Normal to Elite rarity are more than enough, and making good use of dyes lets you express your own style.

Lately, I have been playing with a character styled after Ash from Pokémon, using only Elite-rarity outfit items. The resemblance turned out better than I expected, and I have really been enjoying the customization.

Recreating your favorite anime or game characters is one of the most enjoyable parts of Mabinogi Mobile.

Q. Is it a good game to start on your own?

A. Absolutely.

Mabinogi Mobile has a chance encounter system that allows solo players to form parties naturally with others.

You do not have to recruit your own party for weekly content or other cooperative activities, which takes some of the pressure off. You can also easily join other players in side games.

I appreciated being able to start on my own and enjoy the content without much difficulty.

Q. Does the game support manual or automatic play?

*Turn off ASSIST to use manual controls.

A. Both are available.

If you enjoy dodging attack patterns and taking down bosses yourself, manual play is a good fit. On busy days, the auto-play feature offers a more relaxed way to keep progressing.

Being able to choose a play style that suits your circumstances makes this a satisfying experience for both casual and dedicated players, in my view.

Q. Ultimately, what is the biggest appeal of the Mabinogi series?

A. For me, it is the process of creating my own character and helping them grow.

Creating a look you love, collecting new outfits, taking on raids with friends, and spending time on life-skill activities all become lasting memories.

Being able to fully enjoy most of the content without spending much money is another reason I have kept playing for so long.
