Whenever I started a new game, I always had the same worry: “Will I be any good at this?” There was so much to learn, from unfamiliar controls to all the different systems. Sometimes it seemed easy for everyone else, while I felt left behind. There were also times when I would open a game and sit there for ages, unsure what to do.

But one game helped me stop feeling intimidated and discover the joy of learning at my own pace, one thing at a time. That game was Mabinogi Mobile. So if someone asked me, “What would you recommend to someone just getting into gaming?” I think my answer would be Mabinogi Mobile.

1. A welcoming game

I found Mabinogi Mobile welcoming from the start. Whenever I didn't understand something, there was a dedicated guidebook to walk me through it in detail. The official in-game guide alone explained exactly what I needed to do next and how to do it. Even though I started on my own, I could get a good grasp of the game without having to look up extra information elsewhere. I wasn't studying to get better at the game; I was learning naturally as I enjoyed playing. Looking back, I think that's what made it so easy to settle into Mabinogi Mobile—and why I'm still playing today.

One of the most daunting questions when starting a game is, “What do I do now?” In Mabinogi Mobile, following the quests naturally led me to my next goal. I started by following the guidance, and before I knew it, I had a feel for how the game worked.

The automated systems were a big help, too. When I was still learning the controls and everything was unfamiliar, it was easy to feel lost and unsure what to do. But Mabinogi Mobile had auto-move and auto-battle systems. Simply selecting a quest would get my character moving automatically, so I didn't have to worry about where to go. That helped me get comfortable with the game quickly.

2. It's okay if combat isn't your strength!

Another reason I like Mabinogi Mobile is that I don't have to be good at combat to enjoy it. I'm not much of a combat player. I do enjoy it to some extent, but dressing up my character is more my thing, so fighting isn't a priority. Most RPGs focus largely on combat, but Mabinogi Mobile was different. There was so much to do that I could spend some days just putting together my character's look. Between hidden quests, life skills, playing music, and more, I could choose what appealed to me instead of sticking to combat. Sometimes I would simply wander around the game world, enjoying a quiet moment with no particular goal in mind.

I liked being able to choose what to do based on my mood that day, rather than feeling there was something I absolutely had to get done. That's why I felt Mabinogi Mobile would be a low-pressure choice for someone new to gaming, too. I could follow the quests while I learned the basics, then explore the content I liked once I felt comfortable. At first, it felt as though the game was meeting me where I was. Once I knew my way around, I could enjoy it on my own terms.

3. It's okay to be new!

Above all, when I first started playing, I rarely felt that being new meant I couldn't do something. That's the biggest reason I want to recommend Mabinogi Mobile to beginners. Of course, there was plenty I didn't know at first, and I wasn't sure what to do first. But following the main quests as the game suggested helped me get familiar with things one step at a time. As I completed quests, changed my equipment, and developed my character, I found myself starting to decide what to do next without needing guidance.

For someone new to gaming, I think a game that feels easy to pick up matters more than one that offers a challenge. That's why I'd recommend Mabinogi Mobile as a first game: following the quests makes it easy to get started, and once you're comfortable, you can develop your character the way you want.

My Recommendation for Someone's First-Ever Game

If someone wanted to get into gaming but didn't know where to start, I'd recommend Mabinogi Mobile. I could take my time following the quests and learn the controls one at a time. I could enjoy making my character stronger, dress them up, or spend time on whichever activities I liked.

I didn't know much about games at first either, but playing Mabinogi Mobile made me realize that I didn't have to be good at a game to enjoy it—the experience begins the moment I find something fun. That's why Mabinogi Mobile is more than just a game I've played for a long time. It gives me the excitement of starting out, the joy of learning one thing at a time, and the pride of watching my character grow.

I wanted to discover what made gaming fun at my own pace, and Mabinogi Mobile gave me that chance. To someone else, it might be just one game among many. To me, it brings back the excitement of those first moments. That's why Mabinogi Mobile is the game I'd recommend to someone just starting out—and the one I'd introduce as my own first-ever game.
