[PEAK Challenge] Why Collecting Titles in Vindictus Is So Much Fun: How I Pick 3 Goals for Today

Titles do not gleam as obviously as gear, and earning one does not suddenly make combat easier. Even so, when you open the title window, the battles you have just cleared and the things you have not tried yet sit together on the same screen. In Vindictus, that is exactly where the appeal of collecting titles begins.

The first page of a collection notebook

The title acquisition notice appears for a moment after battle, then fades away. At first, it is easy to think, “Oh, I got one,” and move on. But if you take a slower look through the list, titles feel less like simple labels and more like short combat records—showing which enemies you faced and which conditions you endured.

That is why, rather than deciding from the outset to collect everything, I think the more Vindictus-like approach is to pick just three that stood out today. It keeps the process from turning into homework built on forced repetition, and instead leaves you with one small reason to log in again next time.

Three things to know about the title window first

Browse

You can search acquired or known titles by keyword, and filter the list to show only entries with permanent effects.

Mark as a goal

You can keep frequently used titles or ones you want to obtain in favorites, and some of them let you jump straight to the relevant battle.

See the traces you have gathered

You can check the cumulative total of permanent effects, and depending on how many titles you own, selectable title colors also unlock—up to 21 in all.

The important thing here is that this is not simply a menu for choosing one name to equip. Search helps you find your next goal, favorites help you avoid forgetting it, and cumulative effects and color unlocks show the results of your collection at a glance. In other words, the collecting process and its outcome are connected within the same window.

At first, fill only these three slots

Something nearly finished

Choose one title whose requirements you have already completed to a large extent. It is a good way to experience that sense of completion in a short stretch of time.

Something you can go to right away

Pick one goal that offers a direct battle shortcut. It lets you connect the requirement to the battle itself without wandering through menus.

Something to watch over the long term

Leave one goal that builds gradually rather than ending all at once, such as Ein Lacher or Bond achievements.

If you finish even one of the three, that day’s collecting is a success. The remaining two are not failures; they are bookmarks for your next login. It can seem as though more goals should mean more fun, but in practice, the longer the list becomes, the more time you spend deciding where to begin.

So where do titles actually come from?

General battles and objectives

As you progress through the story and battles, the conditions build up naturally.

At first, rather than repeating content separately, look for goals that overlap with the route you are already following.

Ein Lacher

You fight bosses one-on-one while attempting conditions such as avoiding hits or not using recovery items.

According to the official guide, performance can earn you medals and Seals of Honor, while achievements can reward titles or bonus stats.

Character Bonds

Titles also come from the flow of building relationships with companions and completing Bond achievements.

Because these goals have a different rhythm from collections that simply count battle clears, they are well suited to a longer-term approach.

Events and special categories

There are also titles with limited periods or restricted acquisition conditions.

Rather than giving up on full collection because of missed entries, it is easier to separate those from the titles you can obtain right now.

Achievements and titles should not be treated as the same thing. The official Ein Lacher guide also distinguishes between them, stating that completed achievements grant titles or bonus stats. Before adding a new goal to favorites, it is worth checking not just the requirement but the actual reward as well.

ID sharing is not uniform across the board.

Some title effects are shared with other characters under the same ID, but there can be exceptions, such as event or character-specific titles. In 2025, the sharing range for the effects of some Ein Lacher titles was also adjusted separately. If you are planning around alt character progression as well, the safest approach is to check each title’s description alongside the latest patch notes.

If I only had 15 minutes, this is how I would use them

Look through the “Known Titles” in the title window

Do not start by scanning the entire list; begin with entries where you can confirm your current progress.

Add one nearly finished goal to favorites

If your first choice has a clear set of remaining actions before completion, it makes the whole start feel lighter.

Choose one more goal with a battle shortcut

Not every title has a shortcut, so start by making use of the entries where the button is actually available.

Run the battle once and check how the condition changed

Do not decide in advance how many runs you will do. Go once first, then check whether the number actually moved.

Close out today’s record even if it is not finished

The point is to leave yourself a reason to continue next time. If you have gone past 15 minutes, it is worth asking whether the process has started to feel less like collecting and more like homework.

A collection note written once a week

This week’s title goals · Use only three slots

Nearly finished title: ____________________

Battle shortcut goal: __________________

Long-term Bond/Achievement: ____________________

A moment to remember this week: Rather than the instant you earned the title, write down in one line the moment combat felt a little easier while you were working toward the requirement.

This record is not an efficiency chart. More than a tool for raising your count faster than someone else, it is closer to a note for checking what kind of playstyle you actually enjoy. Whether you like the goal of handling bosses cleanly, or prefer the longer arc of building relationships with companions, the list reveals your preferences more clearly than you might expect.

When I first started, so many systems appeared at once that I paused for a moment. But once I began looking through them one by one, that complexity itself became the next goal. Titles are one of the lighter systems in that regard. Even on days when I am not making dramatic power gains, they still leave me with the feeling that I have preserved one trace of today’s battle.

What not to do if you want to keep collecting over time

Do not try to complete the entire list from the very beginning. With limited-time entries and special conditions mixed together, it is easy to burn out quickly.

Do not force repeated runs of the same battle just for stats. This kind of collecting lasts longer if you prioritize titles that overlap with your current progression route.

Do not assume everything applies the same way to every character. Check the individual descriptions for ID sharing, level requirements, and character-specific conditions.

Do not stop at the acquisition notice alone. If you organize your cumulative permanent effects and favorites once a week, the changes in your collection become much easier to see.

I do recommend collecting titles for fun. Still, I would rather not see anyone get trapped by title grinding. Games should be enjoyable first.

In Vindictus, titles are closer to play records than flashy reward boxes. That is why even after your gear changes and a season passes, a single line of text still holds the battle from that moment. More than earning one today, if you find yourself wanting to open the list again next week, then this style of collecting is already a good fit.
