[PEAK Challenge] A series that stays with you for years: Mabinogi, and why I recommend Mabinogi Mobile

[Participating in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge]

I think a series only happens when one game is loved enough to make people want more.

With that in mind, I’d like to introduce the one series I truly, genuinely love: the Mabinogi series.

What games are in the Mabinogi series?

On Nexon’s official website, these are the three Mabinogi games you can find.

So then, let’s look at them one by one.

The very essence of the series itself: ‘Mabinogi

First up is the original, the foundation, the deeply beloved Mabinogi.

If this game had never existed, the Mabinogi series would not exist either.

That is how much love this MMORPG has received over roughly 22 years, from 2004 to 2026.

‘Mabinogi Heroes’ in pursuit of change

The second is Mabinogi Heroes, the title that pushed the series in a new direction.

Mabinogi Heroes is a spin-off work created with the Mabinogi prequel as its motif.

If Mabinogi is an RPG with a soft, charming atmosphere, then Mabinogi Heroes is an action RPG.

Thanks to that distinctive flavor unique to Heroes, separate from Mabinogi, it has been loved from 2010 to 2026.

‘Mabinogi Mobile’ reaching phones in search of innovation

Lastly, we have the series’ leap to mobile: Mabinogi Mobile.

Mabinogi Mobile supports cross-platform, making it a title that expanded beyond PC to mobile as well.

In other words, it lowered the barrier to entry so more people could enjoy Mabinogi in a more accessible way.

It reinterprets the original Mabinogi for a mobile environment, aiming for a freer feel while still being quite different.

Each one has its own charm, but if I had to recommend just one?

For me, the other two are appealing as well, but I would recommend Mabinogi Mobile a little more.

The reasons are simple:

  • Low barrier to entry

  • Easy accessibility (mobile)

  • Since it’s the newest one… it feels a bit more optimized

That’s really what it comes down to.

Above all, I recommend it because when the barrier to simply enjoying the game is low, it is much easier to jump in and play comfortably.

That said, the other two games are also charming and genuinely good titles.

I also think that if you enjoy those two as well, you can enjoy Mabinogi Mobile in an even richer way.

So, how about starting the Mabinogi series together?
