Any long-running games I’d still recommend even now?

yeah, absolutely. (Crazy Arcade was on that list too.. but sadly, Crazy Arcade met its fate..)

First up: Tales Runner, which recently did a collab with Shugo Chara!, plus MapleStory and Mabinogi. Those are my three picks.

All three have been around for a long time, but thanks to steady updates and each game’s own clear identity, I really think they’re games with plenty to enjoy whether you’re starting fresh or coming back.

So in this post, I want to lightly go over how I somehow got interested in Maple Home, and why Maple Home is fun when it lets you set up a place of your own inside the game.

1. Long-running games still worth playing

1.1. Tales Runner

Tales Runner recently even had a collab with Shugo Chara!



It’s actually done collabs with Crayon Shin-chan,

Naver Webtoon’s Chunbae & Maru, and even Keroro too.

└ The Conan collab is still going on..

With Tales Runner, you’ve got character progression on top of that,

and its big unique hook is that it’s a casual (human) racing game.

That wording sounds a little violent somehow though;;

But it’s not just all the collabs, either.





It also lets you put together outfits with all kinds of items like this,

so if you’re big on character styling, there’s plenty here to love,

and new outfit items keep getting added too.



1.2. MapleStory



Honestly, when people talk about long-running games, MapleStory is one of the biggest names,

and it’s also an all-rounder with collabs, character progression, boss challenges,

tons of fashion items, and even collection content.

1.3. Mabinogi (PC)



Mabinogi (PC) is also famous for being a long-running game.

I... way back when, got stuck on the sheep wool..? or some early section like that,

so I ended up dropping it.. ㅎ.. but still, through last year’s NEW RISE,

it’s been getting all kinds of updates.

I also... uh... stopped because the text was so small it made my eyes hurt

back then.. ㅠ..

2. Why these three games have stayed loved for so long



The reason these three games have stayed loved for so long

isn’t just that they’ve been around forever.

2.1. Each game has its own clear strengths.



Tales Runner has casual running-racing and character styling,

MapleStory has character progression, boss fights, and that attachment you build to your character,

and Mabinogi has the very clear strength of high freedom in its life content.

That’s a big part of it.

2.2. Do they have anything in common..?



For players who’ve been with these games for a long time, they offer nostalgia,

and for players just starting out, they offer each game’s own fresh kind of experience.

That’s something they share too.

3. Recommended points for new and returning users

For people who like the feel of an RPG where you steadily grow your character

For people who want to take things slow while freely choosing between combat and life content, and for people who seriously love dyeing their character’s outfits just right.



These days, games tend to give out

a lot of perks for new or returning users, so

rather than thinking, “It’s a long-running game, so it must be hard,”

I’d recommend just giving each one a quick try too.
