[Participating in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge]
In football games, there are times when buying and selling players takes more time than actually playing matches.
When I first started FC온라인, I managed my team only from my computer. After each match, I would open the transfer market, check player prices, relist anyone who had not sold, and then move on to the next game.
The problem started when I began paying close attention to prices.
Before leaving for work, I would wonder whether the player I had listed had sold. If I heard that a player I had been tracking for several days had dropped in price, I wanted to check even while I was out. But I could not turn on my computer every time.
What made that inconvenience much smaller was the transfer market feature in FC온라인 M and on the official website.
If I had to choose one Nexon game with especially strong convenience features, it would be FC온라인. I could properly enjoy matches on my computer, while taking care of smaller team-management tasks on my phone or on the web. That split was especially convenient.

I checked a lunchtime notification that a player had sold
At first, I used FC온라인 M only to collect attendance rewards.
I would log in briefly, check the reward, and close it right away. Then I found out I could check the transfer market on mobile too, and the way I used it changed completely.
One day before work, I listed an unused player for sale. At the time, I needed to sell that player to buy a new defender, so I registered him at a slightly lower price.
When I checked my phone at lunch, the player had sold.
In the past, I would have waited until I got home and turned on my computer. Instead, I checked the prices of the players I wanted to buy right there. I did not purchase one immediately. I compared a few options first, then placed an order at a reasonable price.
By the time I got home that evening, the new player was already there.
Once I turned on the computer, I did not need to open the transfer market first. I could put him straight into the squad and start playing.
It was not a feature that gave me more playtime, but I felt its value clearly because it was a feature that reduced the time I used to spend outside of matches.
The official FC온라인 website also offers transfer market and main squad-related features, and transfer market management on mobile continues to improve. (EA SPORTS FC ONLINE)
Price alerts were useful, but overdoing them became more tiring
The feature I used most often was watched players and price alerts.
Even if there was a player I wanted to buy, I could not watch the price all day. If I set a target price and waited for an alert, I did not need to keep refreshing the transfer market.
According to the official guide, there is a price alert service that lets you set your desired buy or sell price and receive notifications through the mobile app. To receive alerts, you need to allow notification permissions on both your phone and the app. (EA SPORTS FC ONLINE)
At first, I added too many players to my watchlist.
Even small price movements kept triggering alerts, and player price notifications ended up mixed in with more important messages. A feature I had enabled for convenience actually made me check my phone more often.
After that, I kept only the players I was realistically likely to buy.
Usually that meant one backup option for a current starter, one player I wanted if the price dropped, and one player I was watching for the right time to sell.
I also did not set alert prices blindly at the lowest possible number. I looked at the recent trading range and set a realistic price that made me think, “At this level, I would buy right away.”
Even when an alert came in, I did not rush to buy just because of the notification. I checked the trading volume and the current listings one more time. Sometimes a price dipped briefly and then fell even further.

I spent more time planning my squad in transit than during matches
If you play FC온라인 for long enough, you end up thinking about your team even when you are not playing.
While riding the bus, I would suddenly want to try a different formation, or start thinking about which position I should lower because I was short on salary cap space.
In the past, I would do the math in my head and forget it by the time I got home.
Because I could check my main squad and player information on the official website, I was able to review a rough setup even while I was on the move. I could see how much the salary would change if I replaced a striker, and I could decide in advance which player might fit into the remaining spot. The official site provides not only profile and transfer market features, but also the data center and squad-related information. (EA SPORTS FC ONLINE)
More recently, an auto squad-building feature was also officially added. It builds a squad by considering the stats and preferred positions of the players you own. Rather than giving a final answer, it was useful for quickly creating a basic structure when I had a lot of players. (EA SPORTS FC ONLINE)
I did not use the auto setup exactly as it was.
I let it build the initial arrangement first, then put back only the players I used often. That was much faster than filling every empty spot from scratch, and sometimes I even rediscovered players that had been sitting forgotten in storage.
Mobile access did not count for every event
There was also one mistake I made while using these convenience features.
I assumed that logging in on mobile would count for all event login time. But the criteria were different for each event.
For some events, even entering the lobby in FC온라인 M counts as a login, while in others, mobile login or accumulated mobile time may be excluded. The official event notices also explain these cases separately, distinguishing between events that recognize mobile login and those that do not. (EA SPORTS FC ONLINE)
After that, I stopped judging events by the banner alone.
I started checking the “login and play eligibility criteria” at the bottom of the notice first. In particular, I looked separately at whether it meant simple login, accumulated time, or whether PC matches were also required.
If you only log in on your phone and wait for the reward, missing the conditions feels more disappointing than you expect.
Even in new and returning user events, there are cases where mobile login records are recognized, but separate conditions such as a minimum required duration or creating a PC club owner may also apply. (EA SPORTS FC ONLINE)
The practical management routine I eventually settled into
Now, when I open the mobile app, the first thing I check is whether any players have sold.
After that, I review my buy orders and sales list, and only adjust prices on transactions that have been sitting for a long time. If the market has not moved much, I do not cancel and relist for no reason.
I do not add too many watched players, and I only register actual transfer targets. Even if a price alert comes in, I do not buy immediately. I check the number of listings and recent movement one more time.
On days when I want to make major squad changes, I do not buy players right away.
I first test the setup on mobile or on the official site, then play a few matches at home before deciding. When I used to swap players every time my attack felt off, all I really lost was time and fees.
For events, I check the eligibility conditions before logging in.
The phrase “mobile login available” did not mean the same thing as “accumulated mobile time recognized.” Just checking that difference helped me miss fewer rewards.

Features I wish other games had as well
The feature I wish other online games had is not some large-scale remote battle system.
It is an official feature that lets you check the marketplace, your owned equipment, and character status even when you are not actively playing.
If I could check market prices while outside, relist items for sale, and compare the equipment I want to use next in advance, then I could focus on actual gameplay once I got home.
The reason FC온라인 M felt convenient was not that it could do everything on a phone.
I played football matches on PC, and handled only short tasks outside, such as checking prices and trading players. The roles of PC and mobile were clearly divided.
In the past, there were days when I turned on the computer, looked only at the transfer market, and then closed the game.
Now I finish team management while I am out, and when I get home, I start matches right away.
For me, a good convenience feature is not one that plays the game for you, but one that reduces tedious preparation time and gets you to the genuinely enjoyable part more quickly.
In that sense, FC온라인’s mobile and web integration features are still the ones I remember most.
When you use an official game app, which feature do you rely on more often: the marketplace or character management?
