Me, someone who had never spent money on a game even once,

ended up with a completely wiped-out wallet because I got too busy dressing up my character in Mabinogi Mobile......

But do I regret it? Nope! My character is still here, and still ridiculously pretty.

So how cute and gorgeous does a game have to be to completely steal my heart? Let’s get into it.

Q. What’s Mabinogi Mobile’s customization like?

A. You can tweak the hair, eyes, colors, and even body type, age, and height!

This is the character creation screen you see at the very start. Here, you can pick all kinds of details like appearance, hair, eyes, mouth, face shape, face decorations, eye accessories, body accessories, colors, age, height, and more. There’s room for all kinds of concepts too—grandma concept, general concept, basically whatever concept you want.

Q. Is there more fun to decorating my character?

A. Of course! Let’s go through them together, one by one.

1. The fun of rebirth✨

Mabinogi Mobile has rebirth!! Basically, it means redoing your customization. You can make those choices when you first start the game and create your character, but if you use a Rebirth Stone and rebirth, you get access to even more customization options. Also, characters in Mabinogi Mobile get one year older every Saturday, so if you want to keep that tiny kid look, regular rebirth is a must!

Whenever I make an alt, I always!!! give them a rebirth. That’s because the customization options after rebirth have way more pretty and handsome picks. Sure, some hairstyles do have to be bought from the cash shop, but even without those, there are still plenty of gorgeous options. I’ve never bought any, and I still style my characters exactly how I like!

You can buy Rebirth Stones in the shop too, but they give them out pretty often through events and rewards, so for all three of my characters—including my main—I’ve never bought one even once, and I’m still dressing them up beautifully and blessing my eyes.

My first character (my main) is styled as an adult woman using Body Type 1, and my second alt is a girl child using Body Type 2. My last alt uses an adult man with Body Type 1. My other characters don’t really need rebirth, but for the girl child (my second character), age 10 is the smallest and cutest, so once she gets around her teen years, I use a Rebirth Stone and rebirth her again. She’s just too cute.....

+ Unlimited Rebirth Stone : During a past event in Mobinogi, you could buy an event item called the “Unlimited Rebirth Stone.” Since I usually prefer adult characters except for one, I figured I wouldn’t be rebirthing that often, so I didn’t buy it. And now... I’m just left regretting why I skipped it… If it comes back next time, let’s all not miss it…

2. The fun of dyeing🎨

Sure, lots of games let you dress your character up and dye their clothes—but Mabinogi Mobile has something extra special!! It’s the classic “dye system” inherited straight from the original Mabinogi. What makes it unique is that, within a short time limit, you have to personally hunt down the exact color you want on a random palette by finely controlling each dye area with your mouse. So finding Real White (FFFFFF) or Real Black (000000) used to feel basically impossible. People even say longtime original Mabinogi players became such pros that many of them memorized all the 6-digit color codes.

The devs brought that system into Mabinogi Mobile exactly as it was. So when I first saw this dye system, I genuinely doubted my own eyes. Like... how am I supposed to dye anything with this..? I still remember having a full-on mini breakdown by myself over it.. Now I can find Real White and Real Black pretty well and dye things however I want, but if you’re seeing it for the first time, you might question your eyesight too! Still, don’t be scared. You get better the more you do it. Just go for it—it’s easier than it looks!

When you finally nail the exact color you want like this, it feels insanely satisfying.. I worked so hard staring at that palette until my eyeballs nearly fell out, so how could my character not look adorable to me! My pretty character, made even more precious because she was so hard-earned 😚

Maybe it’s because of this dye system, but I still haven’t seen anyone around me—or even elsewhere—with customization or dye colors similar to mine. I’m the type who always pays close attention when a character is pretty or handsome, so if I still haven’t seen one, I think that just proves how wide the customization range really is! And I feel like this dye system, plus all the different clothes, is a huge reason why.

Even with the same outfit, dyeing it differently makes it feel totally different. Even if people get the same clothes, everyone is chasing a different aesthetic, so it’s fun just looking at all the colorful dye variations. That’s why it’s such a blast when people gather up in the same outfit and take pictures together. Once you start decorating your character and dyeing outfits one by one, you seriously lose track of time. Time goes poof!

3. The fun of cosplay🎭

Another fun part is cosplaying as your favorite characters! I haven’t tried it myself yet, but while playing, I pretty often run into people doing character cosplay. Some representative examples are Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle and Zoro from One Piece—honestly, it’s amazing how well people recreate their favorite characters within limited customization options. Whenever I see someone in cosplay, I immediately feel like running over and asking for a picture. Instant photo spot!

Q. Is being pretty all there is?

A. Yes. Being pretty is everything.

Being able to enjoy character customization in so many different ways makes all these memories of dressing up and dyeing feel extra emotional to look back on..

I think this kind of customization fun is what makes the game so easy to enjoy for even longer!

To wrap things up,

I’m really the type who never spends money on games, but just looking at my character feels satisfying enough, and even if I don’t buy clothes for myself, I’ll still buy clothes for my character,, and that’s how my wallet ended up completely, utterly empty,,,,,,,. Honestly, doesn’t that alone prove Mabinogi Mobile’s customization is top-tier!! At least for me, it absolutely is!
