Anyone who enjoys customization has probably spent an entire session

on the character creation screen without even starting the game.

When I start a new game, I tend to focus on my character's appearance before leveling up.

Only once I have created a character I like does it feel as though the game has truly begun.

I have played many MMORPGs over the years,

but Mabinogi Mobile stands out most for how much I enjoyed its customization.

Much of that comes from the freedom to style my own character

and the pleasure of seeing other players' imaginative creations.

① What Makes Customization in Mabinogi Mobile Enjoyable

Customization in Mabinogi Mobile goes beyond simply dressing up a character.

I could give my character a distinct personality, and browsing other players' creations was enjoyable in its own right.

There are three main reasons I particularly enjoyed it.

①-1. Charming, Warm Graphics That Stay Easy on the Eyes 

Many games these days emphasize realistic graphics. They certainly look impressive, but I have sometimes found them tiring on the eyes during long sessions.

Mabinogi Mobile, by contrast, uses a soft, warm color palette throughout. Its anime-style graphics and bright, charming character designs make customization even more enjoyable.

①-2. Detailed Customization That Lets Me Express My Personal Taste

When creating a character in Mabinogi Mobile, you can adjust the face shape, eye shape, irises, and hairstyle, as well as height and body type based on the character's age.

That warm visual style, paired with detailed options that let me express my personal taste, makes customizing a character especially satisfying.  Even characters of the same class can look entirely different, and seeing so many distinct personalities around town is a pleasure in itself.

①-3. The Appeal of Creating Cosplay Looks for Fans

The wide range of clothing layers and the dyeing system make a particular difference, with options that appeal directly to fans.

It is possible to recreate characters from anime and even other games, so players continually share a wide variety of looks in the community. I have often looked at another player's creation and wondered, "How did they make this?" before saving it or trying to recreate it myself.

Customization is not limited to making a "pretty character." I can recreate my favorite anime characters or bring an unusual concept to life, which offers a different kind of enjoyment.

② Can You Guess Who They Are?

When browsing other players' creations, I often come across characters that bear a surprisingly close resemblance to their inspirations.

For a bit of fun, I have put together a quiz to see if you can identify the inspiration from the customized character alone. 

②-1. First Question

This character looks familiar at a glance. The long blonde hair and the moon symbol on the forehead are your clues.

Answer: Sailor Moon

②-2. Second Question

This character is known for her quiet, mysterious air. The outfit has a similar design, but unfortunately I could not provide a black version on the customization screen.

Answer: Galaxy Express 999 - Maetel

②-3. Third Question

Anyone who enjoys Japanese anime may recognize this character right away.

Answer: Naruto

②-4. Fourth Question

This creation surprised me the most when I first saw it. I had not expected it to be possible to recreate this figure as well.

Answer: Jesus

②-5. Fifth Question

This figure from mythology is famous for being exceptionally handsome.

Answer: Greek and Roman Mythology - Apollo

②-6. Final Question

This should be an easy question for anyone who has played Mabinogi Mobile for a long time.

Answer: Aodhan, an NPC in Emain Macha

③ A World of Customization, and What Makes Mabinogi Mobile Special

I initially started playing for the combat. Over time, though, the customization screen became my first stop whenever new outfits or hairstyles were added.

Simply seeing the varied, playful creations of players I meet in the game makes every day feel fresh and enjoyable.

Powerful equipment and difficult raids are not the only reasons to stay with a game.

Styling my character and appreciating other players' individuality can be reason enough to keep playing.

For me, Mabinogi Mobile is one of the MMORPGs that has captured that pleasure best.
