[PEAK Challenge] I Hope Mabinogi Mobile Keeps Improving Its Convenience Features Going Forward (feat. Please Take Care of My Refrigerator)

This post is [participating in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge].

It is hard to build every convenience feature a game needs all at once. You usually notice those needs one by one only after actually spending time in the world and playing the game. Because of that, quality-of-life features tend to be adjusted or added gradually. The same is true for Mabinogi Mobile. Some features were not there at first, but as players kept playing, feedback came in, and the developers and operations team also observed, considered, and refined things. So convenience features continue to be added and changed. Looking at the recent updates, I found myself thinking about the features I had genuinely hoped would be added, along with a few things I still hope to see in the future.

I like the hunger prompt, but I want it to show the food I actually want to eat.

One of the most recent convenience updates added food selection to the quick-eat feature, so now you can eat right away when you are hungry without opening your bag. It is a real problem when your character suddenly becomes hungry in the middle of combat, because the bonus to total HP disappears. In those moments, if I stop to open my bag and look for food, I may already be dead by the time I find it, or I end up causing trouble for my party, so I often used to just give up. Otherwise, I would simply eat whatever food popped up. The issue was that most of the food in my bag was there for bartering, not for regular use, so more often than not I chose not to eat anything at all. Since launch, I had been thinking it would be nice if I could set this to the food I actually wanted. I even submitted it as feedback. And now it has finally been patched in. I really cannot overstate how convenient it is. The old system would automatically present the lowest-grade food, but now I can set the food I want in advance and use it comfortably even during battle.

If I were to ask for a little more

If I were being a little more ambitious, I would like something beyond setting just one food. It would be nice to set two, or to have a function that excludes certain foods from the quick-eat list altogether. For example, foods made for bartering could be excluded from the food shown in that prompt. And aside from the excluded items, I would not mind if the system randomly displayed any of the remaining foods. That is simply me asking for a bit more.

Memory Imprinting is a huge improvement, but finding runes still feels confusing every time.

Since Season 1 introduced Memory Imprinting, play has become much more flexible. Before that, if you changed or removed a rune, it was gone, so you had to be extremely careful when enhancing imprints. If there were runes you used often, you would even carry extra enhanced armor or accessories just for them. Because the materials needed for enhancement were so costly, you had little choice but to spread your investment around, and even then, rather than playing flexibly, the system pushed people toward locking in whatever was considered the single best rune. Memory Imprinting changed that. Once a top-tier rune had been imprinted, as long as I had recorded a rune I obtained, I could swap it in freely depending on the battle. The problem was that when I wanted to imprint a remembered rune again, it still took time to find the one I wanted among all the runes I owned. Accessories were especially awkward. Even though they were divided by class, they were still all mixed together in alphabetical order, so I had to search around every time. This latest convenience patch finally fixed that by making class-based accessory runes visible at a glance.

▶ If I were to ask for a little more

Armor runes and weapon runes, however, are still the same as before. Of course, because they are in alphabetical order, you can work through them if you check carefully, but I would still like to suggest a favorites feature. There are runes I use often for raids, Abyss, and ordinary hunting grounds or dungeons. That will vary by class, and of course personal preference matters too. So would it not be helpful to have a favorites function that makes frequently used runes easier to find? Even if you normally play a damage dealer, there are times when someone in the party has to step into the healer role. In that case, class-based accessory sorting helps, but you still have to dig through armor or weapon runes to find something suitable for healing. Even if it is not a favorites feature, I think a preset function would make combat in different situations feel much more flexible.

I love reincarnation! But... will the outfit I am wearing now still suit me after reincarnation?

Have you ever put together an outfit you absolutely loved, only to worry that it might not suit your reincarnated appearance? Or perhaps you loved the full look before reincarnation, but after reincarnating, it no longer felt right at all. Whenever that happened, I always thought it would be nice if I could preview my current outfit exactly as it is. And now that has been implemented. It is now possible to reincarnate while keeping the exact coordination I am currently wearing. Why does that feel so revolutionary? Because different outfits suit different body types, and everyone has their own sense of what looks good. I have had moments where the gap felt so frustrating after reincarnation that I ended up changing all of my clothes. With this improvement, though, I have been much more satisfied with the reincarnation process.

One of the best parts is that it is not just about body type. I can also check how my preferred outfit looks across different ages while keeping the same coordination on. Even with the same dark skin tone, the overall impression changes depending on exactly how dark that tone is. Being able to see at a glance how the colors and qualities of the outfit will stand out makes it much easier to set things closer to my own taste, and closer to the image I actually want in my head.

If I were to ask for a little more

If I am wearing men's clothing, there is a good chance I am planning to reincarnate as a male character. Still, in case I switch to the opposite gender, I would like to be able to designate at least one outfit to wear after reincarnating as a female character. Quite a few players probably think ahead about what they want to wear when planning a gender change. In that case, would gender-switch reincarnation not feel even more satisfying if there were a feature that let me say, this is the outfit I want to wear when I switch? Ideally, that outfit could either be set from clothes I already own in their gender-converted form, or it could appear as the female-converted version of the clothes my male character is currently wearing, while keeping the same colors. The image below shows the same outfit, with the same dye, after a gender switch.
