[PEAK Challenge] MapleStory, Sudden Attack, and League of Legends: 3 Long-Running Games I Still Recommend

Hello, I’m 꽤돼.

Plenty of new games come out these days, but many are forgotten within just a few months.

Others have been running for over 10 or even 20 years and still attract plenty of players today.

I don’t think a game is necessarily fun just because it has been around for a long time.

My view is that these games have survived by continuing to offer updates and making it easier for new and returning players to get started.

Today, I’d like to introduce 3 long-running games that I think are still well worth recommending.

MapleStory

First up is MapleStory.

I think MapleStory is still unmatched when it comes to the satisfaction of building up a character. With a wide range of classes and plenty to do, from hunting monsters and fighting bosses to customizing outfits and collecting items, reaching one goal naturally leads to another.

Another major strength is that new classes, areas, and bosses are still added regularly, despite the game’s age.

Returning players can therefore keep finding new content to enjoy.

MapleStory makes developing your character and gearing them up genuinely satisfying.

You can find a class that suits you among the many available, with plenty to enjoy along the way: hunting monsters, fighting bosses, customizing outfits, and collecting items.

Although it is an older game, new classes, areas, and boss content are still added regularly. For me, one of MapleStory’s strengths is that there is always a new goal to work toward.

I think this also explains why MapleStory has remained popular for so long.

It is not simply about gaining levels. You naturally grow attached to the character you have built, and making progress one step at a time is rewarding in its own right.

Returning to a character you used to play can feel like a welcome reunion and bring back memories, too.

New players may feel there are a lot of systems to learn, but frequent events that help with progression now make building up a character much easier than it used to be.

If you are returning, I recommend either picking up your old character or starting fresh with a newly added class.

Sudden Attack

The second game is Sudden Attack.

If you have enjoyed FPS games in the past, you have probably played it at least once.

Sudden Attack has straightforward controls, so you can quickly get back into it even after a long break. Matches are relatively short, too, making it easy to play casually without a large time commitment.

A notable recent update raised the game’s maximum supported frame rate from 84FPS to 200FPS.

Previously, the game could not fully take advantage of high-refresh-rate monitors. Since the update, players can enjoy much smoother visuals.

I watched some test server gameplay while gathering information about the update. It was clear that the game is not standing still just because it is old—there is still an ongoing effort to improve it.

I suspect improvements like these are one reason so many players have stayed with it.

Sudden Attack is also very easy to return to.

Familiar maps such as Warehouse and 제3보급창고 are still there, and a few matches are usually enough to get comfortable with the controls again.

Another strength, in my view, is that even players new to FPS games can get started without much difficulty.

League of Legends

The final game is League of Legends.

It has been around for a long time, yet it still consistently ranks among the most popular games at PC bangs.

In League of Legends, champions, items, and team compositions change how each match unfolds. That variety keeps the game from getting stale, even after you have played for a long time.

The recently added ARAM Mayhem offers a different take on the familiar ARAM experience.

Often called “ARAM with Augments,” it lets you choose from various Augments as you play. Those choices are part of the fun and give it a different feel from standard ARAM.

League of Legends Classic has also been revealed, bringing back the feel of Season 3 and receiving a positive response from players who used to enjoy League.

To me, this suggests an ongoing effort to do more than simply keep an old game running: it offers new content while also bringing back memories.

That said, new players may find the sheer number of champions daunting.

Rather than trying everything at once, I recommend choosing just one or two champions and learning how to play them.

If you are returning and find Summoner’s Rift a little intimidating, easing back in with Mayhem or ARAM is a good option.

Those are the 3 long-running games I would still recommend today.

MapleStory offers the satisfaction of steady progression, while Sudden Attack continues to improve the gameplay experience, as its recent frame rate increase to 200FPS shows.

League of Legends continues to offer updates such as Mayhem and League Classic, combining new content with a chance to revisit old memories.

All three games have been running for a long time, but I think what matters more is that they are still evolving.

If you used to enjoy one of these games, this could be a good opportunity to return. If you have never played any of them, I recommend starting with whichever genre suits you.

That’s all from 꽤돼.
