[PEAK Challenge] Game recommendations to enjoy with friends or your partner!

[Participating in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge]

Playing the same game with a friend or your partner is both a stroke of luck and a real joy.

People often say that sharing a hobby with your partner is one of life’s biggest happinesses.

I feel the same way. I love playing games with someone, so over the years I’ve teamed up with others in all kinds of games—Stardew Valley, MapleStory, Animal Crossing, Mario Party, Tales Runner, Asgard, and more.

So today, I want to share 3 games I’ve played that became even more fun specifically because I was playing them with another person, along with what makes each one stand out.

1. 바이패드 / Biped

바이패드 is a Steam co-op puzzle game for two players. You clear maps together and move on to the next stage, so cooperation really matters. If one person turns a lever, a path opens up for the other, so it definitely felt like a game where teamwork between the two of us was everything!

- Left foot~ right foot~ 🦶

You control your character’s left foot and right foot separately! The difficulty itself is pretty easy, but if you and your partner aren’t in sync, you just can’t clear it.. Since there are only two movement inputs, we literally said “left foot~ right foot~ right foot~” out loud while moving together. It got to the point where I was like, “Do we really have to do this?” but honestly, it was way less confusing that way. It also made me feel grateful that my real left and right feet move exactly how I want them to.

- Intuitive puzzles 🧩

It’s not the kind of game where you have to sit there seriously wracking your brain—the solution is usually pretty easy to see at a glance, which makes it great for casual play. For the trickier puzzles, my friend and I still had to go, “Wait, what do we do here?” and think it through together, but overall it’s a relatively easy puzzle game, so I could usually figure things out in my head. The problem was actually doing it with the controls.. My brain and my hands were not on the same team.

- Summary

If you want to unwind with a friend and play a relatively easy puzzle game together, I definitely recommend giving Biped a try!

2. 오버쿡드 2 / Overcooked! 2

오버쿡드 2 is a Steam game where you cook together with a friend to clear stages. The kitchen is designed so one person can’t do everything alone, and there’s also a time limit, so cooperation is absolutely essential!

- Great for light kill-time play 🍽

Unlike games that demand a big time investment and expect you to play every day, this one is great for hopping in and doing a stage or two. Since you clear it stage by stage, I liked being able to say, “Let’s stop here for today!” It’s also a co-op game with a friend, so there’s no pressure of competition, which made it feel really comfortable. Because of that, I focused less on speed-clearing and more on collecting stars! If we only got one star, I’d immediately say, “Let’s run it again,” and there were times we repeated a stage more than five times just to get 3 stars.

- A laugh-until-your-stomach-hurts game! 😆

At first it feels manageable, but once you get into the later stages, it becomes total chaos. You have to cook fast and serve everything on time, so it turns into exactly what it looks like—absolute mayhem.. The shouting starts flying everywhere.. “Go over there!” “Pass me the fish!!” “That’s not it!!!!” “It’s on fire!!!!!” “The rice is burning!!!” Moments like that are nonstop, and they’re hilarious. There was even a time my friend turned in a dish with one ingredient missing, and most of the time things got so complicated that we both hit full mental overload and had no idea where to go or what to do next. We’d bicker the whole time, and then the second we cleared it together, we’d switch right into “Wow, we were actually amazing” mode and start hyping ourselves up. I still remember starting after dinner at 7 p.m. and somehow not finishing until 2 a.m. Peak dopamine, peak focus—seriously.

- Summary

If you want a great kill-time game where you and a friend can focus like crazy on cooking and end up laughing nonstop, I highly recommend Overcooked! 2!

3. Mabinogi Mobile

Mabinogi Mobile is a Nexon game, a multi-growth RPG where you can do a bit of everything—combat, life content, decorating, and more. Like a good RPG should, it’s incredibly fun to grow your character and style one that feels truly your own. I totally fell for the characters.. On top of that, it has auto-battle and auto-move, so even someone like me, who hasn’t played that many games, can get into it easily. It’s the game I’m having the most fun with right now, so if I had to pick just one game on this list to recommend for playing with a friend or your partner, this would be it!

Like any RPG, you can team up with friends to take on bosses and raids, but Mabinogi also has some special features that really stand out when two people play together. Since today’s theme is games that are more fun as a duo, I want to share some of the things that make Mabinogi especially unique in that way.

- Lover system 💗

Mabinogi Mobile has a lover system. Since it’s a relationship formed through mutual consent, you need the other person’s approval. And fittingly, because it’s a lover relationship, you can only have one. The difference from regular friends is that friends get a yellow circle icon, while lovers get a pink heart like in the photo above. There’s also a separate move-to-lover function, so you can go straight to your lover. Once you become lovers, an NPC gives you a small wall decoration as a gift. And when your lover comes near you, a pink heart effect appears once per channel, just like in the screenshot above!

At first, I didn’t even know the lover feature existed, but once I found out, I really liked the idea of becoming lovers in-game with someone I like. Since DevCAT said they plan to expand lover-related content, I’m excited to see how much further they take it. You should all try sending a lover request to someone special too!

- Special places 💐

There’s a special place for lovers in Emain Macha in Mabinogi Mobile! In Emain Macha’s “Promise Rest Area,” there are two chairs for friends and lovers, and if you sit there, a caption appears showing the name of the person beside you. One side shows a love confession, and the other shows a friendship confession!! A friend took me there just a few days after I started the game, and I still remember how touched I was when the confession message popped up,, It’s definitely a place worth visiting with your partner or a friend!!

- Let’s decorate a house together! 🏡

Mabinogi Mobile has My Home content. One part of that is the Large My Home, and if you’re thinking, “I want a bigger house and I want to decorate it, but I don’t have the gold and it feels like too much.. I’m not confident I can do it alone,” then you can move in with a friend. If you live together, you can quite literally share the space and decorate the house together.

My most memorable My Home-related experience was when I was decorating by myself and ran out of materials. I really wanted to make my first My Home look pretty, so I was trying hard to do it all on my own, but I was short on so many things. There were purchase-limited decor parts, seedlings, and lots of other materials I didn’t have enough of, so I couldn’t craft the decor I wanted, and I was upset because I couldn’t decorate it the way I had imagined. Then my lover, 묘마, told me they had gotten a really big house and said we could live together there, so they asked me to move. After we moved, 묘마 asked what decor I needed and made it for me. Thanks to that, I was able to decorate a My Home much bigger than the one I had on my own, filling it completely with my personal taste!

That’s how my home sweet home came to be. Maybe because I gathered the materials myself, processed them, and poured all my taste and interior ideas into it, it’s still the content I feel the most attached to in Mabinogi.

- Two-person interactions 👫

Motion actions are one of the highlights of Mabinogi Mobile! And yes, there are also motion actions here that are specifically for two-person interactions.

There are tons of them—gifting a ring, fantasy soulmate, princess carry, couple dance, sketchbook, bouquet, and more—and since they can only be done by two people, first come, first served~!! And if you and a friend match outfits and do the same action together, how cute is that? I always make sure to participate in every event so I can collect these motions. I just can’t resist cute things. It’s one of the things I love most about Mabinogi Mobile, and it adds that perfect little extra charm!

- Toy play 🎮

These are play items you can buy from Walter’s General Shop in Dunbarton. They were added with Season 2 this time around. You can use them from the tools tab, and there’s rock-paper-scissors, a toy spinner, and toy voting sticks. Recently, during a guild event, we did a rock-paper-scissors event called “Beat 00,” and I ended up playing rock-paper-scissors with a lot of people. Huge praise to DevCAT for adding cute little toys like these. It made me feel like I’d gone back to childhood, which I really loved!

- Summary

If you love character customization and enjoy relatively easy growth-style RPGs with charming, cute graphics, I highly recommend Mabinogi Mobile! It’s such a great game to play together with a friend!!

To wrap up, doing something together makes it more memorable and turns it into a special memory. For me, games are no longer just something I play—they’ve become a space where I can spend time with people I care about. I think the real fun of games lies in spending time together and making memories along the way, so I wanted to recommend a few games that are especially great for two people. Let’s all make some memories~
