Character growth is an essential part of RPGs.

That is because much of the appeal comes from challenging higher tiers of content, including endgame content.

In this post, I will look at the growth systems related to “Mabinogi.”

1) Cumulative Level

Unlike many other RPGs, Mabinogi measures strength based on cumulative level rather than current level.

Players can bring their character back into the world through rebirth,

and cumulative level refers to the total of all current levels accumulated through rebirth up to that point.

Once your cumulative level exceeds 40,000,

you enter what is called “Full Shine,” which allows you to receive the maximum value of the buff determined by your current level.

2) Dungeon Guide and Equipment Level

If you want to gauge your current strength, you can check the Dungeon Guide.

By reviewing the unlock requirements, which function as the entry conditions for each dungeon in the Dungeon Guide,

you can identify your weak points or prepare the necessary equipment.

The overall equipment level shown at the top of the image is calculated differently depending on the equipment tier,

and gear closer to what players commonly call “best-in-slot” is assigned a higher level.

3) Stats

If you want to check your character’s strength in numerical terms, you can also look directly at the stats.

If you play a warrior-type class, it is important to increase Strength and damage,

while if you play a mage-type class, you can raise Intelligence and magic attack.

These kinds of stats are applied permanently by raising a skill’s rank or fully completing Potential.

4) Divine Link

In Mabinogi, the role of pets is highly important.

In that context, “Divine Link,” a skill used on pets, also holds an important place in character growth.

If you use this skill on a pet, you will share stats with the pet for a certain period of time,

which can make your character stronger.

Here, the factor that affects the pet’s stats is the cumulative level covered in section 1),

and when the pet’s cumulative level reaches around 10,000, it can receive the highest stats.

As you continue to develop your character, the number of dungeons you can clear increases,

and clearing those dungeons lets you gain more experience and a greater sense of accomplishment.
