Participating in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge

When I saw the theme “games that are great for two players,” my first thought was:
Mabinogi Mobile is mainly built around 4-player dungeons and 8-player raids, so what am I supposed to talk about?
Most of its content is meant to be enjoyed in larger groups,
but after thinking it over, I realized there was one feature that really shines when you're playing with just one friend.

That feature is 2-player actions.

2-player actions work a little differently from regular actions.
First, the adventurer who owns the action uses it and enters a waiting state,
then when another adventurer comes close, a Join In button appears.
Pressing that button lets even a player who doesn't own the action participate,
and it triggers a special animation where the two characters interact with each other.

🌹 Rose Gift

This one was available through the Promise of a Spring Day Mission Package, which was sold from May 21 to June 4.

When you use the action, your character sits on the ground holding a rose and waits for the other person.
If another adventurer presses Join In, they present a bouquet of roses,
and the receiving character happily smells the flowers.

💍 Ring Gift

Just like the name suggests, this is a 2-player action built around a proposal concept.
It was obtainable as part of the Lucky Streak Package Step 3 bundle.

In the waiting state, the character holds a box with a ring inside and waits for the other person.
When Join In is pressed, they offer the ring, and the receiving character happily turns it this way and that to admire it.

👉 Fantastic Partner

Personally, this is the most distinctive 2-player action of the bunch.
It could be earned as a reward for clearing Dagda's Twisted Ruins, which was added on March 19.

Dagda's Twisted Ruins is a puzzle-style dungeon designed exclusively for two players, where you guide objects to their destination,
and I liked that clearing the content also rewarded you with an action.
When you use it, your character waits confidently with a hand on their hip,
and when the other character presses Join In, the two strike a playful pose while pointing finger guns at each other.

🤭 Princess Carry

If I had to pick the biggest laugh point, it would easily be this action.
During the Make and Share! event, which ran from February 12 to March 12,
you could craft a Chocolate Gift Set and exchange it with NPC Caitin.

When you use the action, your character opens both arms and waits for someone to jump in,
and the character who presses Join In gets swept right up into their embrace.
The funniest part is that the animation stays the same regardless of gender or body type,
so you can get scenes where a 10-year-old child-type character effortlessly lifts a tallest-height adult male character into their arms.

💃 Couple Dance

This one was obtainable from the Sweet Breeze Mission Package, which was sold from February 12 to March 26.

In the waiting state, the character lightly sways side to side to the rhythm while waiting for the other person,
and when Join In is pressed, the two characters naturally begin dancing together.
The flashy, cute choreography and the way they move in sync together make the whole scene especially charming.

Mabinogi Mobile is, at its core, an MMORPG centered around 4-player dungeons and 8-player raids.
So at first, it felt a little removed from the theme of a game that's great for two people.
But after looking through these one by one, I realized the game has steadily added features that let friends laugh together, take photos,
mess around, and make memories.

Combat isn't the whole story when it comes to multiplayer.
Taking a short break during a raid to snap a picture with a 2-player action,
then smiling at that screenshot even after the event is over, is part of what makes an MMORPG fun too.
If even more 2-player actions are added in the future, it feels like there will be even more small but memorable ways to enjoy the game with friends.
