In Mabinogi Mobile, the Pyromancer is a damage dealer. The role’s strength is simple: you have the power to take an opponent down before they can hit you. The downside? They might kill you before you get the chance. In a one-on-one fight, it all comes down to who falls first. If you cannot overpower your opponent and finish them off before they beat you down, you are the one who dies.

Damage dealers do not have much health, and they cannot heal themselves. They are fragile, too. It hurts. It really hurts. As a magic class, the Pyromancer wears cloth armor, so getting hit really, really, really hurts. All you have to get through a fight are 5 potions, 5 bandages, 3 grenades, and about 2 enhancement elixirs. Even those have time restrictions.

Does that mean we should feel down? Not at all. We are not alone in this world. I am not alone! When things get hard, look up at the sky. I am never alone. Even when it rains and harsh winds blo~w, the sun will shine again. On days that hurt enough to bring tears~ shout out loud, just once. Let the fragile sorrow~ that was co~ming my way run aw~ay again~ If you can hear that song playing in your head, your age is showing, hehe.

Let’s get back on track. The point is, we are not alone. We have party members by our side. Playing in a party makes things more fun, and sharing the roles lets us cover one another’s weaknesses. Am I talking about Mabinogi Mobile again? Yes, Mabinogi Mobile. It is the game I put the most effort into, and the one I enjoy with my friends. So am I lonely whenever my real-life friends are not online with me? Not at all—we still have chance encounters! There is a certain magic to the connections that begin that way.





Weaknesses Down, Strengths Up: Party Play That Starts with Resolve and Ends with a Smile

When I board the ship, I feel a solemn sense of resolve. This voyage, too, will be a success—I am determined to make it back. But as we share a meal by the fire, enter the raid, and start fighting, that solemn mood begins to soften. On our first attempt, when everyone is focused on learning the raid, there is fun in figuring out what each of us needs to watch out for, one thing at a time. On a familiar raid, the fun comes from teasing whoever made the silliest mistakes(?). Like firing an ultimate at a shadow instead of the Succubus.





There is also something reassuring about a party with a tank, a healer, and 2 damage dealers: I can focus entirely on dealing damage. With the tank holding the line and the healer quick to patch us up, I can concentrate on hitting hard and fast. Together, we cover one another’s weaknesses and bring out the best in our strengths.

Satisfy the Craving, Capture the Magic in Photos

Fighting in sync with partners who help you make the most of what you do best is truly exhilarating. I imagine most damage dealers feel the same way—who does not want to deal more damage? When you can do that to your heart’s content, how could it not be fun? And the joy does not end when you successfully clear the raid. Fighting together is fun, but posing for a commemorative photo afterward is a joy all its own.





Good Alone, but Warmer Together

Mabinogi Mobile has plenty of content to tackle together. There is 다그다’s Adventure 1, where 4 people work through quizzes together, and 다그다’s Adventure 2, where two people coordinate their efforts. Then there are the Succubus, 에이렐, various boss raids, and even the Abyss. Playing alone has its charms, but the joy of playing together is not something we want to give up, either.

Oh, and let’s light a campfire, gather around, share a meal, and play some music together. We can share black tea and cotton candy, sing work songs to one another as we gather wheat, or dig up pumpkins with our hoes. These, too, are joys we can share. And so, to everyone reading this, may today bring you happiness,
