The moment that feels most rewarding in games is, without question, finally clearing a difficult boss. Gearing up, learning the patterns, and pushing through repeated attempts with your party until you finally win creates a kind of satisfaction that other content rarely matches.

The boss fight that has stayed with me the most is the raid boss “Tabartas” from 《Mabinogi Mobile》. It feels even more memorable now because it is a raid we soon will not be able to experience anymore.

Tabartas, the wall that early players had to overcome

When Tabartas first appeared, it was a raid that many players struggled with. This was not the kind of boss you could beat just by pouring out damage; clearing it meant each person had to perform their role properly.

I went through plenty of failures when I first challenged it as well. I can still clearly remember talking with my party members about where we had messed up that time before going back in again. As we kept trying, the process of gradually learning its patterns one by one became enjoyable in its own right.

Varied mechanics that made teamwork essential

What made Tabartas so fun was the range of mechanics it used.

One of the clearest examples was the “Crush” pattern, where the tank had to step forward and absorb the hit while the rest of the party moved according to their own roles. There were also moments when monsters spawning on both sides had to be dealt with quickly, or when everyone needed to spread out depending on the situation. It was not a raid built around mindless attacking, but a boss encounter where the whole party’s coordination really mattered.

Since a single mistake could throw the entire run off course, teamwork naturally became crucial, and that made the feeling of clearing it even more satisfying.

A boss that was fun even to look at

Tabartas was also visually striking.

Its enormous stone body and heavy, imposing movements created an overwhelming presence from the moment it appeared. The sense of depth in its design also made every hit feel clean and satisfying, so it went beyond simply being a difficult boss; the fight itself was genuinely enjoyable.

That is why, even after attempting it over and over, I never really found it tiring. More than boredom, what I felt was always the same thought: “This time, we are definitely going to beat it.”

It stayed with me because I failed so many times

In the early days, I spent a lot of time retrying Tabartas.

There were wipes caused by not fully understanding the patterns, and plenty of runs where we had to start over after failing a mechanic. But with each failure, the strategy became more familiar, and our party’s coordination gradually started to click.

And when we finally cleared it, the sense of accomplishment was unforgettable. It was not just about getting the rewards, but about the fact that it was something everyone had achieved together after so many failed attempts.

Closing thoughts

To me, Tabartas was not just a difficult raid, but the boss that most strongly made me feel both the thrill of challenge and the joy of cooperation. Because the clear came after a whole process of learning patterns, dividing roles, and building the strategy together with my party members, the victory felt that much more meaningful.

It is hard not to feel a little regret when I think about the fact that I soon will not be able to face Tabartas anymore. All those early runs spent endlessly retrying and learning the fight, along with the sense of accomplishment when we finally brought the boss down, will probably stay with me for a long time. Even if new raids arrive in the future, if I had to name the boss that left the deepest impression on me, Tabartas would still be the first one I mention.
