Hidden ghosts. Mysterious Easter eggs. Usually, that's where spooky stories in games begin.
But lately, the scariest tale in Mabinogi Mobile has come from somewhere else entirely.
룬다 어비스, added in the July 2 update.

📍 Open your friends list, and everyone's in the same place

The first change I noticed after the update was on my friends list.
Normally, my friends would be scattered across different areas, working on life skills or running dungeons,
or simply idling in town or at My Home.
After the update, though, everyone online seemed to have the same locations listed next to their names.

At first, I thought it was just a few people.
But no matter how often I refreshed, or whether I checked again a few hours later, nothing changed.
More than ten of my online friends were still running dungeons somewhere in 룬다 어비스.

What on earth was going on? The answer turned out to be remarkably simple.
모르 코르세어, the new fashion items available in 룬다 어비스.

🏴 모르 코르세어 and the case of the missing players

Take a step back, and they're really just fashion items.
They don't boost your combat power, and you don't need them to access any content.
But anyone who's spent enough time playing MMORPGs knows the feeling.
New content arrives, and suddenly you want its rarest drop
before anyone else gets their hands on it.

It's not necessarily about stats. It's about saying, “I got it! I'm done with this grind!”

Or maybe it's about being the first to say it?
I don't think it's so much that 모르 코르세어 looks especially good.
It's more that familiar K-gamer urge: once new content opens up, you can't rest until you've seen it through.

The whole mood in the community has shifted along with it.
All day long, world chat is full of players lamenting the drops they aren't getting.
At first, those posts made me chuckle. Then, somewhere along the way, I started having the same conversations with my friends.

👻 Superstitions you don't believe—but try anyway

With rare drops proving so elusive, superstitions began cropping up one by one.

Take your clothes off before entering if you want clothes to drop.
Change your gender before entering to boost the odds.
Remove every fashion item and wear only regular equipment.
Blow a horn to get on the director's good side, and the item will drop.
Try the Seodongyo method: brag that you already got it, and you really will.

Listen to them for a moment, and every single one sounds ridiculous.
Naturally, there's no official basis for any of them.

Yet here's the funny part: nobody really believes them,
but when the item still won't drop, you find yourself trying them at least once. Just in case.

😂 Eventually, I made the missing persons list too

Honestly, I'm hardly one to talk.
I've been running the Abyss under the excuse of earning seasonal skill EXP for my main and alt,
but my real target is the 모르 코르세어 Fashion Selection Box.

The results? Two pairs of gloves and one pair of shoes...

Rare fashion items, certainly—but they weren't the outfit, so they felt like duds.
Worse, it felt as though those shoes and gloves had used up my chances of getting the outfit. That left a bad taste in my mouth.
So I queue up for another run. And then another.

These days, just opening my friends list makes me laugh.
Rather than checking who's online, I first look to see who's still in 허상의 정박지.
Every so often, someone appears in town, and I think, “Did they finally get it and escape?”
Then comes the reply: they're just out for repairs.

In time, we'll probably see more and more people wearing 모르 코르세어,
and this frenzy will naturally fade. Some new fashion items might even steal the spotlight.
But for a while yet, I suspect the spooky tale of adventurers disappearing en masse into 룬다 어비스 will live on.

Of course, I'm still one of the missing players in that story.
