When people talk about game urban legends, you usually picture hidden ghosts or buried Easter eggs.
But these days, the creepiest story in Mabinogi Mobile started somewhere else entirely.
It started with Runda Abyss, added in the July 2 update.

📍 Open the friends list, and everyone’s in the same place

The first change I really felt after the update was in the friends list.
Normally, everyone would be spread across different areas—doing life content, running dungeons,
or just standing around in town or My Home doing absolutely nothing.
But after the update, every time I opened the friends list, the people online were all marked in the same places.

Anchorage of Illusion
Cave of Madness
Scattered Waterway

At first, I figured it was only a handful of people.
But even after refreshing, and checking again a few hours later, the situation hadn’t changed.
More than ten of my online friends were still somewhere inside Runda Abyss.

I kept wondering what on earth was happening, but the reason was almost too simple.
It was all because of Moru Corsair, the new fashion item obtainable in Runda Abyss.

🏴 The mass disappearance incident caused by Moru Corsair

If we’re being honest, it’s just a fashion item.
It doesn’t raise your combat power, and it’s not like the game becomes unclearable without it.
But anyone who’s spent enough time in MMORPGs already knows how this goes.
When new content opens up, you suddenly want the rarest item in it
before anybody else gets there first.

Not necessarily because it’s strong, but because you want to be the first one to say, I got it! I’m done!

That kind of urge, really.
More than Moru Corsair simply being extra pretty,
this feels closer to that very K-gamer instinct where once new content opens, you have to see the end of it.

Unsurprisingly, the whole community vibe changed too.
World chat has been filled all day with people lamenting that the item just won’t drop.
At first, I laughed reading those posts—but before I knew it, I was having the exact same conversations with my friends.

👻 The kind of urban legends you don’t believe, but try once anyway

Since the rare item refuses to drop easily, little urban legends started popping up one by one.

Take off your outfit before entering, and the outfit will drop.
Change your gender before entering, and the odds go up.
Remove all fashion items and wear only normal gear.
Blow the horn so the director notices you, and it’ll drop.
Brag first that you already got it—use the “Seodongyo method,” and maybe it’ll actually happen.

If you really listen to them, every single one sounds completely absurd.
Officially, of course, there’s no evidence behind any of it.

But the weird part is that even though nobody truly believes these stories,
people still end up trying them at least once—just because the item still refuses to appear.

😂 In the end, I added my own name to the missing persons list too

6

Honestly, I’m not really in any position to talk about other people.
I’ve been running Abyss under the excuse of leveling seasonal skill EXP for my main and alt characters,
but what I’m actually chasing is the Moru Corsair Fashion Selection Box.

And the result? Two gloves, one pair of shoes...

They were definitely rare fashion items, but since they weren’t the outfit itself, they felt like misses.
It was even a little irritating, like my chances of getting the costume had been drained away into shoes and gloves instead.
So in the end, I queue up one more run... and then another.

So these days, just opening my friends list makes me laugh.
Before I even check who logged in, I find myself checking who’s still in Anchorage of Illusion.
Sometimes I spot one person in town and think, Wait, did they finally get it and escape?
Then I hear the reply: they just came out for repairs.

Eventually, more and more people will probably start walking around in Moru Corsair,
the current fever will cool down on its own, and some new fashion item may rise up instead.
But for a while, this urban legend—that adventurers vanished in groups inside Runda Abyss—will probably keep going.

Of course, I’m still one of the missing inside that story.
