Taking Part in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge

When we think of the games that have meant the most to us, we usually think of the ones we have spent the most time playing or

the ones we have enjoyed the most.
But for me, what makes a game that meaningful is a little different.
There is the joy of playing, of course,
but when the friendships we form in a game become part of our lives beyond it,
I cannot think of anything that makes a game more special.

That is why, for me, those games are Mabinogi and Mabinogi Mobile, both part of the Mabinogi IP.

🤝 A Gaming Friendship That Has Lasted Over 10 Years

I have a gaming friend I had known for years before I started playing Mabinogi Mobile.
We first met in Mabinogi on PC.
We were in the same guild and gradually grew close, running dungeons together, taking part in events, and chatting about nothing in particular.

Eventually, we both stopped playing Mabinogi on PC, but to my surprise, our friendship continued.
We kept in touch even when we were no longer playing, and before we knew it, we had been friends for over 10 years.
I never imagined that simply playing a game together could lead to a friendship that would last this long.

✨ Reconnecting with an Old Guildmate in Mabinogi Mobile

When Mabinogi Mobile launched, that friend and I returned to Erinn together.
Then something else happened that I had not expected.

I had once shared a guild with someone in Mabinogi on PC,

but we had gradually lost touch after I stopped playing.
In Mabinogi Mobile, I met that guildmate again.
We recognized each other's nicknames, and as we talked, we confirmed that we really had been in the same guild.

After so long out of touch, I never expected us to find each other in the same game again,
playing together, laughing, and chatting as we once had.
It felt all the more remarkable when I thought about how, if I had not started playing Mabinogi Mobile, we would never have had the chance to reconnect.

🚄 Making New Memories Beyond the Game

These days, we do not just spend time together in the game.
I live in the Seoul metropolitan area, but I have traveled all the way to Gyeongju and Busan to see my friends.
Although I had only known them online, as we shared meals, visited cafés, and spent whole days talking,
it never felt as though we were meeting for the first time.

Those friendships are still going strong.
We have already made plans to meet again in Daejeon next month.
It still amazes me that friendships that began in a game now bring us together in places across the country.
These days, it feels less like going to see people I play a game with and more like visiting friends I have known for years.

💛 Why These Games Mean So Much to Me

A game may shut down someday, or we may simply drift away from it over time.
But the memories of time spent with the people we met there do not fade so easily.

Mabinogi on PC first brought us together,
and Mabinogi Mobile brought us back together.
I was once again playing the same game with a friend I had stayed in touch with for years,
and I had even reconnected with someone I had lost touch with, so that now we are making memories together in real life.

So if someone asked me to recommend a game that has meant the most to me,
I think I would name Mabinogi and Mabinogi Mobile without hesitation.
Engaging content and progression systems certainly matter,
but these games have shown me that, in the end, it is the people who stay with us the longest,
and there are so many good people in these games.
