[PEAK Challenge] Mabinogi Ghost Story Rule No. 1. Never forget the eyes that are always watching over you.

This post is currently [participating in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge].

Have you ever stood at the Tir Chonaill observatory and looked down over the village? Once you climb up, the whole of Tir Chonaill lies open in a single glance. No one seems to know who installed that telescope, yet through it, you can draw the village even closer. Nao is always there, tending a campfire whenever you visit, so there is a certain suspicion that she may have set it there herself... but we still do not know. Who placed that telescope there, or why.

Since coming to Erinn, have you ever had the feeling that someone is always following behind you? Something you were certain only you knew, and yet somehow everyone already knows it. Something you resolved only moments ago, and someone else speaks of it as if they had known all along. We have all felt that quiet, uneasy chill. We simply choose not to make too much of it... or not to dig too deeply.

Even so, we know what appears from time to time. The Seeds of Darkness, those strange crow-like things, those beings that come at us without warning. We met them the moment we first set foot in Erinn, and every now and then we still feel it—that sense that some black eye is fixed on us. There have even been times when they blocked our path as we went to handle something important, leaving us no choice but to fight.

In the beginning, it seemed they could not recognize us thanks to the seashell Amadoci gave us, but now it is no longer given out, and the one we had has vanished as well. Then who is it? Where do those watching eyes come from? Could it be that crow bastard who uncannily finds me every 30 minutes and tosses me silver coins? That crow, too, is more than a little suspicious.

But the one I suspect is someone else entirely. I would wager no one has ever suspected her. After all, she approached us while seeming completely harmless. Even now, she drifts around us as though she is nothing of consequence. A camera always hangs from her neck. That means she can capture us at any moment, in any form, whenever she pleases. I believe she is one of the culprits behind all of this. Mera.

It was not from the start that I suspected Mera, but while looking out over the village from the Tir Chonaill observatory, I found it at last—the sight of her watching us. At first, I thought I had made a mistake. There I was, high atop the observatory, peering into the village through a telescope... and there in the village was Mera, watching me. If I had not liked the scenery enough to study it over and over, I would never have noticed. How many adventurers in Erinn know this, I wonder? That Mera is watching us. I am attaching photographic evidence.

We truly need to live carefully. We have no way of knowing what version of us may already have been captured by Mera’s camera. Ever since learning that, I have become convinced of one thing: when the crow finds my location, when those black things appear now and then to attack me, there must be some report somewhere telling them exactly where I am. Someone no one would ever suspect, quietly photographing us from the shadows—Mera.

Finding proof that she was secretly photographing us was no easy task. I have only a single piece of evidence. A pity... because there must be more. Surely, somewhere across Erinn, there are beings watching us adventurers. Perhaps they are even manipulating me as I protect the peace of Erinn. Our enemy may be closer than we think—right beside us. And it is certain that they desperately want us to realize something.

But perhaps the real horror lies in the dragon’s appearance?

The first dragon I saw was clearly white, and almost noble in the way it looked,

but the dragon resurrected by Dragon Hood was ugly.
