[PEAK Challenge] My Home, the joy of creating a place where a character can truly live

Whenever a game has housing content, I always end up spending a long time with it.
I like collecting lots of furniture, and I enjoy the process of slowly bringing a single space to completion.
Thinking over what should go where, and filling things in one by one,
before I know it, I have lost track of time and am just wandering around the house.

Mabinogi Mobile's 'My Home' feature has been exactly the same for me.
As soon as the extra-large house and cohabitation update arrived,
I bought the biggest lot, Emain Macha 2-6, and started decorating it.

Living together in a BFF House

Since this is a house where my character and my friend's character live together,

I wanted to decorate it in a way that would clearly bring out both of their personalities.

My character's signature color is yellow, so I decided to decorate the room in yellow tones,
and I wanted it to reflect my real-life hobbies too—visiting cafes, searching out good food, and reading.
So I made a home cafe corner in the room, and added a space for reading as well.

The friend I live with leans toward green tones.
I placed plenty of plants in the room, and tried to give it the feeling of a character who loves green and enjoys gardening.
My friend is also very good at drawing, and draws often in real life, so I made a space that feels like a work table too.

As I kept building out these little details one by one,
it became easy to tell whose space was whose just by looking at the room.

So that My Home could feel like a lived-in space

From the beginning, I was not planning to make only the rooms,
and since the extra-large My Home is so spacious, I planned out several different areas together.

Past the entrance, there is a hallway, then the entrance to the guest room,
and I also made a separate library for reading and an armory for storing equipment.

I wanted it to feel like a house someone could actually live in,
so I put just as much care into the kitchen and dining area, as well as the bath and restroom interiors.

A house people come to visit

My Home is not the kind of content that ends with decorating alone.

Not just the friend I live with,
but other friends and guild members also stop by from time to time.
We gather in the living room to talk, and then look around the spaces each person likes best and take photos.

When people start dropping by one after another to see a finished house, it leaves me with a real sense of satisfaction.

An old house with memories in it

Before moving into the extra-large house, I had been using My Home with a yellow-lit old teahouse concept.

By chance, it was even selected for the housewarming segment on the official broadcast Fantasy Live,
and there was a time when the host, Nyang PD, came to look around the house in person.
I have always liked housing and had put a lot of care into decorating it, so that felt especially nice.

A few things that still feel lacking

The more I spend time on housing, the more I find myself wanting a little more from it.

Mabinogi Mobile is a game where dyeing is genuinely fun, but furniture colors cannot actually be changed.

Even pieces that look like the same kind of wooden furniture have slightly different tones, and that part is honestly very frustrating,
because some lean reddish while others lean purplish, which means they do not sit well in the same space.

It is also a problem when the color you see in the preview does not match the color after placement.
If a furniture dye feature is ever added someday, I feel like it would open the way for much more varied housing concepts than we have now.
