[PEAK Challenge] Because the time spent waiting is part of the journey too

I’ve loved Pokémon, one of the Nintendo games I grew up with, for as long as I can remember,

and apart from the title screen, the loading screen was really just black.

With mobile games these days,

especially Japanese social gacha series built around cute anime girls,

even those brief loading moments are used to put up character-related information.

For example, something like this

This game has around 190 characters,

so you can pick the one you want and set them to appear on the loading screen.

Sometimes it even shows a one-panel comic like this

It might add a line or two of character background,

or simply explain things through a comic-style cut.

Games with longer loading times sometimes fill the whole screen with illustration art like this.

Mabinogi Mobile shows the region and its logo

Since I mostly play mobile gacha games,

I ended up focusing on flashy illustrations and character-centered loading screens, but

in Mabinogi Mobile, an RPG about setting out on an adventure,

the game shows the name of the area you’re traveling to, along with a short description of it.

The regional descriptions in Mabinogi are surprisingly romantic, which makes them quietly enjoyable to read.

When I go to raids, I move through Colhen, and sometimes I stop by Tir Chonaill to exchange items, and the descriptions for those two towns feel especially familiar. I like both places too...
