The content below includes major setting and story spoilers for Mabinogi, Mabinogi Heroes, Mabinogi Mobile.
If you’re still making your way through the story, I’d recommend coming back to this later!

What stood out to me about the voice casting in Mabinogi Mobile was how memorable it felt.
More specifically, it wasn’t just one actor that caught my attention—the casting itself was really interesting once you factor in the setting.
I’d already played Mabinogi and Mabinogi Heroes before.
So when I started Mabinogi Mobile, I already knew which characters were connected in the story.
Mari gets a new body and becomes Nao,
and in Mabinogi Heroes, Tieve becomes Morrighan while Cadan becomes Cichol.
But Mabinogi Mobile hadn’t revealed which voice actor played which character.
I remember there being some frustration in the community over the lack of voice cast information.

Then at one point, I saw a post on Twitter saying that Cadan and Cichol
sounded like they might be voiced by the same actor.
I remember seeing that and wondering if it was really true,
but with no official information out there, I treated it as speculation for the time being.

Then, this past March, a special voice actor congratulatory video was released for Mabinogi Mobile’s first anniversary.
At first I watched it thinking, so they’re finally revealing the cast,
but partway through the video, I suddenly got chills.

As I remember it, 'Jang Yena,' the voice actor for Nao, was giving her greeting, impressions, and anniversary message,
and then mentioned that she also played Mari.
Since both Cadan and Cichol have young male voices, I’d already had the sense that their tones were somewhat similar,
but finding out that Nao and Mari were also played by the same actor made the casting feel genuinely uncanny in the best way.

And it didn’t stop there—the actor who actually voiced both Morrighan and Tieve was Soyeon,
and Jang Min-hyeok was also introduced as the actor behind both Cichol and Cadan.
What fascinated me was that they didn’t just preserve the lore connection—they even matched the voice actors.

It’s pretty common in games for one voice actor to play multiple characters,
but what made Mabinogi Mobile especially interesting was that the same actors were cast for characters who are connected in the story.
As someone who spent a long time with the original, it felt like one of those details that makes you think, they even paid attention to this?
I was especially impressed by the way they tried to express the characters’ connections through their voices too.
Honestly, I’m not someone who knows that much about the world of voice actors,
and I’m not usually the type to look up famous names or performers known for their range first.
Maybe that’s exactly why what stayed with me most wasn’t the acting alone, but the way they wove the worldbuilding and lore into the casting itself.
