I’m currently participating in the [NEXON PEAK Post Challenge].

A character’s appeal can come from so many different places. Their design, their personality, their quirks... there are countless ways a character can become lovable. And today, out of all of those, I wanted to talk about voice, because the voice actor behind a character is one of those major points of charm that can completely change the direction of how that character feels.

Mabinogi Mobile also has all kinds of characters. Morrighan, Cichol, Nao, Tarlach, Ruairi, Triana, Dark Lord, and really so many others show up. And of course everyone has their own favorite, but mine, out of all of them, is Neris, who runs the weapon shop in Dunbarton. The reason is Neris’s voice.

Fergus, Neris, Armis, Aiden, Osla, and even doing it yourself at the campfire are all options, but there’s only one reason I end up going to Neris the most. It’s because I love that one line she calls out: “That worked out!” In that voice, bright with laughter, you can really feel how sincerely she’s celebrating the fact that things truly went well.

Neris is a little weaker in impact than other characters when it comes to becoming your absolute favorite. She doesn’t directly affect the main story, and even in the side story, she only really appears in that episode with Manus. And since there are so many options for repairs or enhancements, there actually aren’t that many times when you have to go out of your way to find her. It’s also because whenever a new season opens, I usually stop by the weapon shop or smithy near the newly opened area instead.

But while Neris’s personality and appearance are charming too, that “That worked out!” feels like Neris herself, and because it lets me feel her character so clearly, because more than with anyone else I came to like Neris through her voice, she’s the one I choose.

That voice that tells someone else, so sincerely and so full of laughter, that things turned out well for them... how could that not be charming? I really hope you go hear it for yourself soon.
