[PEAK Challenge] In the end, arcade games really are the best... aren’t they.

I was never especially interested in games to begin with, so I mostly stuck to simple merge games, or straightforward arcade games where you do things like throw daggers into a log.

Then one day, a game from a completely new genre found its way to me...

That’s right. It was Mabinogi Mobile, an RPG.

It was my first RPG ever, so things like runes and enhancement were entirely new concepts to me... but thankfully, with a lot of help, I’ve now become a fairly respectable Monk with 65,000 power.

For someone like me, who used to play arcade games for a few weeks and then delete them, only to do the same thing again, it feels a little special that I’ve now been steadily playing one game for over a year.

Of course, if it had been some other RPG, I probably would have worried about whether it would last, and I doubt I would have trusted it enough to spend money dressing up and building my character like this, but the biggest reason was that the original Mabinogi has already been going strong for 20 years.

And of course, a YouTuber I like also did an ad for it ^^ I’m really hoping Nexon gives them another sponsorship in Season 2. I’m the only one Mobi left behind. Of course, I’m happy with my guildmates... but wanting someone I like to enjoy the same game as me is a different kind of feeling too, you know ^^

I first got into RPGs through Mobi, and I’ve been having a great time with it. Honestly, it’s not that I’d never considered RPGs before, but realistic art styles just aren’t really to my taste, so I always ended up bouncing off them. Mobinogi’s art style lands right in my strike zone, so I don’t think I’ll be touching any other RPGs for a while.

People around me have tried tempting me with games like 연운 or FF in the meantime... but that art style really did end up being a barrier to entry for me. Of course, that’s purely personal taste. I think I just prefer 2D art styles.

I really hope it continues to be run well going forward too. I’d like to keep enjoying it for a long time.
