[PEAK Challenge] Growing a MapleStory Character with a Low Return Barrier, plus an FC Online Recommendation and Introduction

[Currently participating in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge]

This is Junyoung from the Junryongseoseo blog.

Right now, through the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge,

I’m taking part in an event where the more I log my play,

the more rewards I can receive after 8 weeks.

As someone who mainly plays Nexon games, I’d say that’s very welcome news.

This is this week’s mission post.

#복귀장벽낮은게임

A lot of the time, you start a game right at launch and really get into it,

then step away because of real life or just because you got burned out on it,

and later it comes back to mind once in a while because of old memories.

Then after going in circles, you try picking up a game again because of returnee benefits,

but all the content, gear, and specs that built up during the gap are so complicated that you end up leaving again.

That’s what I’d call a high return barrier.

By my standards, here are two games I’d recommend for having a low return barrier.

Maple Idle

It lost a lot of users due to various issues, including the large-scale refund controversy, but

with the new character Viper, it feels like a perfect time to return as a Pirate.

Because of the current Burning event, every time you gain 1 level,

you get +1 more, which is an incredibly generous setup.

I recommend Maple Idle as a great game to just zone out with, even if you’re free-to-play or only spending lightly.

Since it has both mobile and PC versions, it’s easy to play in whatever environment works for you,

and the offline rewards (24 hours) are decent too, so it’s great for hopping in and playing for a bit.

Your daily chores also get finished quickly thanks to the sweep function,

and since it’s an idle game, it’s nice for solo play,

while you can also farm items through party hunting.

There’s definitely some fun in watching your cute little character keep growing.

That said, depending on your specs, you can end up stuck on one stage for quite a long time.

And it does have a tendency to encourage spending through limited packages.

For Maple Idle, I do recommend paying for the ad removal package for convenience.

FC Online

FC Online has strong rewards for new and returning users, and it runs events often.

Because of that, setting up your squad is much easier,

and since the fun of competition comes from results based on your own skill,

whether you play against the CPU or go up against other users,

I’d recommend it as a game with a low return barrier.

Since matches are played one at a time, it’s very easy to enjoy casually.

In the past, you had to raise proficiency from 1 to 5 yourself, but now it increases automatically.

So it’s become much easier to sign a new player and jump straight into a match,

though while a lot comes down to differences in player skill, the value of the players can vary a lot too,

and if you run into someone really good... there are plenty of times you just get completely rolled.

That’s one downside: even after coming back, if you keep losing, you may not feel like playing again.

These two are the games I personally think have a low return barrier.

For me, they’re easy to pick up and enjoy, so I keep coming back to them.
