[Peak Challenge] If You Have the Memories, You Can Jump Right into MapleLand

[Participating in the Nexon PEAK Post Challenge]

Hello, this is Kkwaedwae. It’s been a while since I’ve written anything.

Lately, all kinds of games have been rolling out major summer updates.

I’d been playing almost nothing but Sudden Attack for quite a while, but after seeing the recent update news, I found myself coming back to MapleLand.

With so many MMORPGs these days, coming back after a long break often means relearning a whole stack of systems and catching up on endless content, so it can take quite a while to settle in again,

and for me, while trying new content can definitely be fun, there are also times when it just feels stressful, so I tend to gravitate toward classic games instead.

Since MapleStory Worlds launched, there have been all sorts of servers recreating the old MapleStory, but MapleLand is easily my favorite, because out of them all, it feels like the most faithfully realized.

One of the biggest reasons I like MapleLand so much is how easy it is to get back into.

If you grew up playing MapleStory, just seeing village names like Henesys and Kerning City is enough to bring those memories back naturally,

and that was exactly how it felt for me too, because even though I was logging in again after a long time, I quickly got the hang of where to hunt and which quests to pick up.

I did have to look up stats and skill builds a bit, though.

Especially with modern MMORPGs, there are times when keeping up with all the progression systems and daily content starts to feel like a burden, but MapleLand lets you focus on the essentials again: leveling up and hunting, then taking that simple, satisfying loop of defeating monsters, gearing up, and moving on to better hunting grounds as far as you want.

It’s also quite accessible, since you can play it through the MapleStory Worlds platform. More than anything, because there’s no probability-based BM on this server, the pressure to spend is much lower, and I really liked that it still feels fully enjoyable just with the currency you earn while playing.

Recently, with the MapleLand 2.0 update, it has gone beyond simply focusing on faithfully recreating the original

and added convenience features like a marketplace as well, which makes playing feel noticeably smoother.

On top of that, the new jobs Cygnus Knights and Pirate have been released, and there’s also an event underway for returning players.

You can get a 1.5x EXP bonus up to level 120, and with attack-boosting buffs, 2x EXP coupons, and growth support items being handed out as well, I think it’s a particularly good time to start.

If you’re anything like me and have been playing other games for a while, only to suddenly start thinking about the Maple of old again, I’d recommend trying MapleLand at least once.
