MapleStory gear setup tips, and how AI changed the way I play

Hello!

This is Nexon Picker 피스타임.

These days, AI has become one of those everyday convenience tools we can hardly separate from daily life. When something comes up that I want to know, asking AI is often faster—and sometimes even more accurate—than searching the web myself.

The same idea applies to games too. I came back to MapleStory about a month ago to get ready for the summer update. I had quit last year while playing Ren, so all of my Item Burning gear was gone. Figuring out where to even begin with my gear setup was a real headache.

In situations like this, most of us usually search through YouTube, Google, and Naver to find information. Even though AI has improved a lot, when you ask it about game-related details, it often pulls information from a few years ago, so it is not always reliable.

That said, video guides are not always the easiest to organize. In those cases, I recommend sending AI the YouTube video URL and asking it to summarize the contents for you.

Watching the video alongside a summary like that makes it much easier to keep my thoughts organized, since I do not need to take separate notes myself.

If you ask it to sort things into a table, it can lay everything out neatly like this as well. And it works for more than just YouTube videos—if you come across a useful article, you can ask AI to make that easier to read too, and it will usually format it nicely on its own.

That gave me a rough idea of how I should approach my gear setup. From there, I searched for reasonable listings for each equipment slot, organized them, and wrote them down in a memo. I wanted to check how much it would all cost.

At this point, I do not even feel like using a calculator. I copied and pasted my item list and listing prices into AI and asked how much everything would cost, and it told me the total would be 3,130억. So for the gear setup I organized earlier, it looks like I will need at least 3,000억 mesos.

Of course, the actual work of searching the auction house and buying the items is still up to me. AI cannot do the part where I keep checking listings and purchasing the gear myself.

Even so, it definitely feels much more convenient than it used to. Rather than using AI to play the game for us, I think it makes more sense to use it in ways that help us enjoy the game more.

On June 18, MapleStory’s summer event will begin. A new class, Rete, will also be released at the same time. If you have been struggling with gear setup, try using AI and enjoy a different kind of gaming life.
