Maple Showcase Recap! From the New Class Lete to the Summer Event

While watching the MapleStory Overdrive Showcase on June 13, I put together the major announcements by category.

The showcase covered a wide range of topics, from a new class and a new boss to broad quality-of-life improvements. There were plenty of moments that got an immediate reaction, and overall it left me thinking, “This summer really might be the right time to jump in and play with friends.”

New Class: Lete

Lete is a demon class that fights entirely through summons. Its release date is June 18.

What clearly separates Lete from existing summon-based classes is that Lete herself has no direct attack skills at all, while her summons fight on their own. The player’s role is to trigger each summon’s dedicated skills through Edict commands on a short cycle and Overload commands on a longer cycle.

Even in boss fights, the summons automatically track targets, so the class plays very differently from the rest of the roster. It does not rely on heavy repositioning; instead, the core of the class is managing summons and timing commands well.

Lete is classified as an independent demon class, separate from the existing Resistance demon classes such as Blaster and Battle Mage. At launch, growth rewards will be given to all new characters, and Lete-exclusive cosmetic rewards will be offered separately as well.

Third 6th Job Skill Core (July 23)

There had been ongoing complaints that 6th Job skill cores felt too similar across classes. This third core was designed to shore up what each class lacks based on its own defining traits. In practice, that means things like burst support for sustained-DPS classes, or longer-duration tools for classes built around short cooldowns. Even so, the overall increase in combat power has been adjusted to remain the same across every class.

New Boss: Bellona (During the Summer Update)

The entry requirement is level 280 or higher, with parties of up to 3 players.

The boss comes in three difficulties: Easy, Normal, and Hard, and its concept is a berserker driven mad, serving as an apostle of Gerand Darmoor.

The Bellona fight drops the Brilliant Boss Accessory Hungry Crimson Wraith. With this, it will finally be possible to complete the 6-set effect for the Brilliant Boss Accessory set. For players trying to finish their setup, this looks like it will be an effectively mandatory boss.

It is slated to arrive as part of the summer update.

Reduced Play Time

One user’s reaction

Director Kim Chang-seop described the main direction as “changes in density and accessibility”. Watching the showcase, it was easy to see that the scale of these changes is larger than it might sound at first.

Most notably, boss time limits and boss HP will both be reduced to two-thirds of their current values.

Skill effectiveness will be adjusted to remain the same, and a Hexa Matrix reset scroll will also be provided.

Monster Park is getting a sweep mode, and Monster Park Extreme will be revamped into Extreme Monster Parker.

Arcane River and Grandis daily quests, along with Special Content, will be consolidated into a single run, while Epic Dungeons will be compressed into 5 stages and monster HP will also be lowered.

The overall structure is shifting toward less repetitive play and more rewards delivered all at once. The amount of daily routine content players need to clear looks set to drop in a big way.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

Going through these one by one during the showcase, it really felt like several long-standing pain points are finally being addressed.

Maple Union Tetris is being removed, and the placement system is being overhauled from the ground up.

The fifth Union Champion slot will also be unlocked.

World-wide guild joining will become possible, and character presets will be expanded as well.

The maximum damage cap will be removed, and owning 4 vac pets will unlock new abilities such as Luna Gathering, along with integrated world-shared management.

Maple Auction is getting a full revamp, with improved access on mobile and the web.

A practice mode for individual boss phases will be added, and Maple Hands (auto-hunting) will also be introduced.

Summer Events

The summer event lineup is split across several tracks. Mission Ultima (Ultimapolis) is a reward event built around attendance and content participation. Aetherion Artifact is a content skill enhancement event, while Hyper Blink boosts EXP by up to 5000% for the level 200 to 260 range.

For levels 60 to 280, Burning Beyond applies 1+1 level-ups. Item Burning Plus covers changes to equipment growth missions and the way Morning Emblems are obtained, while Genesis Pass and Genesis Pass Plus are passes meant to speed up entry into major content.

Challengers World Season 4

The season boss of Challengers World Season 4 is Meirin.

Its defining features include a dedicated skill that lets players select and use other classes’ skills through cards, along with “Order” skills that change existing skill mechanics, such as chaining Origin skills back to back. The mode comes in Normal and Hard difficulties, with a 20-minute time limit. A new tier is also being added, and the reward structure has been improved overall.

Animation: Dear My Hero

The MapleStory animation Dear My Hero, scheduled to premiere on June 14, also stood out during the showcase. Since it opens as soon as tomorrow, interested players may want to check it out.
