MapleStory’s distinctive ways of traveling between continents #탈것
마빡도로시

Hello
This time, the keyword is mounts, and I wanted to take a look at some of the more distinctive ones found in the game.
When you think of a representative mount in MapleStory, the airship that carries you between continents probably comes to mind first, so I ended up writing a little about it.
The intercontinental travel on Victoria Island still has a certain charm

The station at Six Path Crossway on Victoria Island has long since been overshadowed by the Maple Guide and the Teleport World Map, and now feels like a relic from another time, but it is still there and still usable.

This was something I learned for the first time while looking into it—there is a little extra lore here as well. I am not sure when it was added, but it is a lovely detail.

Now, boarding is free, and the travel time has been shortened to 30 seconds, so your time on the ship is very brief. Even so, you can still step into the cozy cabin. Crimson Balrog no longer appears there, though. From what I found, the only place to see it now is in the Charm Expression quest.
With the trip reduced to 30 seconds, one small disappointment is that the BGM no longer has time to play all the way through. Even so, it remains memorable to me. It captures that feeling of setting out for a new continent especially well.

Another airship that feels every bit as memorable as the one bound for Orbis is the one headed to Ludibrium. Its design and the mood of the map certainly help, but I think the BGM plays a large part there too. The ship itself is wonderfully made as well.

Even setting those two aside, the airships for Ariant, Edelstein, Ereve, Leafre, and the rest are all distinctively made, so they have stayed in my memory as well. MapleStory often removes content once it stops being used, so I rather like that these have been preserved in this way, with even a bit of extra lore to keep their character intact.
Crossing continents by renting a personal aircraft

There is also a way to travel between continents using a personal aircraft. Through Instructor Irvin, who stands at each terminal, you can rent a plane.

This used to be part of a system where, if you clicked the world map while riding a mount, you would slowly move there automatically. When I checked to see what had become of it, I found that it has now been changed so you can cross continents on this aircraft instead.

The rental fee is quite cute, really, but there is a 10-second difference in flight time. And while the airline-operated ships, as shown earlier, are all free, taking this aircraft requires an extra payment of 5,000 mesos.

Once you pay the mesos, you can watch yourself fly off like this. The red plane has a flight time of 30 seconds, while the wooden plane lasts 40 seconds. If you use these aircraft in a regular field, you can also ride them like normal mounts.
The various means of transportation that can also be found in Grandis

Grandis has this kind of travel between towns as well. You can apply for passage through Seya of the Shadow Merchant Union, and this too is quite memorable because each sequence suits the atmosphere and theme of its town so well. There is no separate fee, and Savage Terminal serves as a central point for the surrounding regions, much like the terminal for the ships bound for Orbis.

The transportation and the scenery are more distinctive and thoughtfully made than I expected, so if any of this catches your interest, it might be worth going to see for yourself.
Thank you for reading.
