The Overdrive Showcase went live today at 4 PM.

There were a lot of updates I really didn’t see coming, so I just pulled together the parts that stood out to me.

Coloring Prism Pro and Weapon Effect Prism improvements

The Coloring Prism Pro and Weapon Effect Prism that used to be sold through Boutique Gift

will become permanent Cash Shop items starting with the July update, and items you apply them to will now get unlimited recolor changes.

In the Cash Shop, Coloring Prism Pro is 25,000 Cash and Weapon Effect Prism is 15,000 Cash,

so compared to the old Coloring Prism price, they may look a bit expensive at first. Still, since the applied item gets unlimited recolor changes, the pricing seems fair enough to me.

I’m sure a lot of people like me bought multiple copies of the same cash item just to try different dye setups,

so I really like that with Coloring Prism Pro, one cash item can now be reused across different looks.

At this point, for Royal Style and Master Label items that take dye well, it feels much more efficient to use Coloring Prism Pro,

so I can see regular Coloring Prism falling out of use. That was probably part of the intention too, right?

Because Coloring Prism Pro was so expensive, I think a lot of players like me hesitated to dye regular cash items in the first place,

so I really like that from the July update onward, regular cash items can finally be dyed more freely!!

Are we finally entering the era of the mighty Color Prism Pro?

Just thinking about all the unique and pretty coordis MapleStory players are going to make is exciting.

Magnetic Pet system revamp

You get a new skill each time you add one more Magnetic Pet on top of the 3 pets from the same set,

and aside from that same-generation 3-pet requirement, the remaining 3 Magnetic Pets can be from either different generations or the same one.

You can even use 3 identical Magnetic Pets,

so if you want the 6-pet effect as efficiently as possible, buying 3 copies of a cheaper Magnetic Pet doesn’t seem like a bad option.

4-pet set effect: Luna Gathering

Acquisition condition: Own the 3 types of Magnetic Pets from the same set and 1 Magnetic Pet

Active effect: Upon using the skill, all items on the entire map can be collected once every 90 seconds

Daily usage limit within the world: 230 times

Passive effect: Attack Power / Magic ATT +15

5-pet set effect: Luna Extension

Acquisition condition: After learning Luna Gathering, own the 3 types of Magnetic Pets from the same set and 2 Magnetic Pets

Passive effect: Increases Janus duration when using Luna Gathering

Attack Power / Magic ATT +15

6-pet set effect: Luna Power Up

Acquisition condition: After acquiring Luna Extension, own the 3 types of Magnetic Pets from the same set and 3 Magnetic Pets

Passive effect: Attack Power +30, Magic ATT +30

Along with this Magnetic Pet update, new Magnetic Pets were also added to the test server,

and the Petite Orange Mushroom, Green Mushroom, and Blue Mushroom Magnetic Pets

that were previously handed out as temporary pets through the Maple Attack attendance reward event are now being sold for Cash.

If you keep up with the attendance event, you can permanently obtain 1 of the Petite Mushroom pets,

so this looks like it’s meant to give players without a same-generation 3-pet set a cheaper way to complete one through the Petite Mushroom set.

They’re also selling the Luna Petite 8th generation Magnetic Pets that a lot of players have been waiting for.

Baekya

Petite Blood

Baekya and Seola turned out really well, but I’m not a fan of Petite Blood.

They should’ve saved the fox for this generation instead of using it in the previous one... the cat just doesn’t work for me.

If they had unified Magnetic Pet generations this time, I would’ve bought Baekya and Ciel Magnetic Pets and finished a 5-pet set,

so why are they still not merging Magnetic Pet generations..😭

Baekya came out so well that I kind of just want to buy Baekya alone,

but if I do that, I’d have to commit to the full 8th gen 3-pet set, so I’m hesitating.

I just want to buy the Magnetic Pets I actually want, but because of the same-set 3-type Magnetic Pet effect,

I really hate that I’d have to buy female-character Magnetic Pets and animal Magnetic Pets I don’t even want..

I don’t really hunt that much, so should I just give up on the 5-pet set effect..?

Magnetic Pets are already expensive for the performance they give, and not even being able to buy the ones I want feels pretty unreasonable😥
