A Guide to Essential Buff Items in MapleStory #뉴비 #천연위고비
마빡도로시

Hello.
This keyword is Natural Wegovy, and the topic here is buff items that help your character in-game.
In MapleStory, there are a huge number of buff items, and because most of them offer very good value for their cost, many are treated as essentials. Since there are so many, it can be inconvenient for new players to look them up one by one, so the goal of this post is to give you the relevant information in one place. Each section goes over the details, and at the end there is also a simple summary for quick reference.
Buff Manager

Before getting into the details, you should know that almost every type of buff item can be checked through the Buff Manager UI, which you can open from the skill window. This post will also follow that order for most of the explanations, and anything related to buffs that is not included there will be covered separately.
Shared Skills

These are the skills commonly referred to as Echo of Hero-type skills. The skill names differ depending on the character’s race, but the effect is the same. Since they give a very strong +4% Attack Power and Magic Attack buff, they are naturally essential. If a nearby character uses one, the effect does not stack and instead refreshes as a new buff.
-
Echo of Hero : Adventurer / Cygnus / Resistance / Hero / Kinesis
-
Intensive Time : Zero
-
Exclusive Spell : all remaining races other than those listed above
You can usually obtain it after reaching level 200 by completing the quest classified under your job in the quest UI. Adventurers were also changed recently so that you no longer need to go find the statue yourself. Once you obtain it, you can check it in your 0th job skills.
Some job groups apparently have prerequisite quests, so if you reach level 200 and still cannot get it, search for your job group + the Echo of Hero keyword and you should be able to find the exact unlock path right away.
Guild Skills : Participate in Guild Content

These are the Noblesse Guild Skills commonly referred to as Noblesse skills. They are leveled with SP that refreshes weekly based on guild members’ participation in guild content, and they can be used by guild members who meet the required rank within the guild. You can start using them 24 hours after joining.

-
Boss Killing Machine : increases Boss Monster Damage by 30% for 30 minutes
-
Defense Is Just a Number : increases Ignore Defense by 30% for 30 minutes
-
In the Name of the Guild : increases Damage by 30% for 30 minutes
-
Big Hit : increases Critical Damage by 30% for 30 minutes
There are 4 skills in total, and because the effects are so strong, they are as close to mandatory as it gets. After the easing patch, it became much easier to reach the so-called “45 points”, which lets a guild fully max everything except Ignore Defense, so for now you can simply look for a guild described as 45 points or 45P focused. Later, once your specs improve significantly and you start aiming higher, you can move to a guild that targets more SP than 45 points.

Of course, you do not get these effects without doing anything, and there are weekly tasks involved.
-
Flag Race (Flag) : obstacle-map race
-
Sharenian’s Underground Waterway (Waterway) : Punch King (hit the boss for 2 minutes to earn points)
Of the two, Flag was changed to an absolute evaluation system, so only 10 guild members need to participate each week. Because of that, outside of Challengers World, it usually is not a meaningful requirement.
Underground Waterway is different. While it is true that the SP requirements were eased, it is still based on relative ranking, so you generally need to participate every week, and in most guilds, not participating comes with the penalty of losing access to Noblesse skills.
For Waterway, players have already researched and shared class-specific builds, so if you search for them, you should be able to find them easily. Even just to keep access to Noblesse skill effects, spending 2 minutes+@ each week, if you retry, is effectively required.
Noblesse skills cannot be used after entering a boss battle map, and they also cannot be used in Underground Waterway
Combat Potions : Alchemy Crafting / Auction House

Combat Potions are items that can be crafted through the Alchemy profession. There are many kinds, but these are the ones used most often.
-
Advanced Boss Rush Potion (Gobo Kill) : increases Boss Monster Damage by 20% for 40 minutes - about 3 million mesos
-
Legendary Hero Potion : increases Attack Power/Magic Attack by 30 for 2 hours - about 800,000 mesos

There are a few things to be careful about when using potions. The rules can look complicated if you only read the descriptions, so below I will explain a simpler way to understand them.
Profession Skill : Reach Meister in a Profession

This is a skill you can use once your Equipment Crafting or Accessory Crafting profession rank reaches Meister. Accessory Meister also has a usable skill, but Equipment Meister is the one used more often because its effect is more practically useful.

Whetstones can be crafted or bought from the Auction House, and at the time of writing they cost around 4 million mesos. Since they increase Critical Damage by 5% for 40 minutes, the effect is quite strong.
Also, all professions can now be learned at the same time, and because you need to learn Alchemy in order to use 2 potion-type items at the same time, it is essential. You can learn it just by speaking in Ardentmill, with no separate requirements.
Boss Rewards : Boss Drops / Auction House

-
Sparkling Red Star Potion : increases Boss Monster Damage by 20% for 2 hours
-
Sparkling Blue Star Potion : increases Ignore Defense by 20% for 2 hours
-
Sparkling Gold Star Potion : increases Attack Power/Magic Attack by 20 for 2 hours
To start with, these 3 items cannot be used together, so the Sparkling Red Star Potion, which has the best effect, is the one people use. It is currently inexpensive at around 150,000 mesos, mainly because it drops frequently from boss monsters.

Originally, this could only be purchased from Patrick De Blanc, who appeared randomly after clearing Chaos Root Abyss, but after an improvement patch it was changed so that boss monsters can also drop it.
Regular fire potions without the Sparkling prefix only work inside Root Abyss, so in practical terms they are not useful now.

The Lustrous Moonlight Potion shown at the end belongs to a separate category, so it can be stacked with other potions, but it currently only drops from the highest-tier boss monsters. From a new player’s perspective, this is not really an item you would have a reason to use.
-
Dropping bosses : Extreme Seren / Extreme Kalos / Extreme Kaling / Extreme Adversary
This also used to be obtainable from Root Abyss boxes, but unlike the potions above, it can now only be obtained from the boss monsters listed above.
Battle Potions : Alchemy / Auction House

-
Enhanced 10-Stage STR/INT/DEX/LUK Potion : increases the corresponding main stat by 30 for 30 minutes
There are 4 separate main-stat potions, and they can be crafted through Alchemy or bought cheaply from the Auction House. Compared to other items, their effect is relatively modest, but the advantage is that they can be stacked with other buffs.
Collector’s Elixirs (+Popularity Chair Buff) : Collector Quest

These are items you can buy from the Collector after completing the Collector’s Request quest once you reach level 200. If you skip through the dialogue, it is a very short quest that takes less than about 2 minutes.

These items were introduced when the old system of players buying and selling certain active buff skills from specific jobs was replaced with an NPC shop instead.
They can be moved within the world and do not expire, and they cannot be used after entering a boss battle map, and they also cannot be used in Underground Waterway, which was covered above.
-
Seiram’s Elixir : 2 million mesos

As you can see, Seiram’s Elixir has an extremely strong effect, so it is effectively essential.
-
Aleria’s Elixir : 2 million mesos

Aleria’s Elixir works like what players commonly call Hedo-type skills, such as Heaven’s Door, by adding 1 extra death count. You can use it depending on the situation. If you do not die in battle after using it, the effect remains, and similar types of skills can be used again after that elixir effect disappears.
-
Honor Elixir : 5 million mesos

Honor Elixir was released so that what is commonly known as the Popularity Chair Buff can be used without any limit on the number of uses.

If you visit places like Channel 1 of Zakum’s entrance map, you can often see these chairs lined up, and by raising the Popularity of the character sitting in the chair, you can receive a buff based on the chair’s level.

That buff is divided into these 3 types, but the issue is that Popularity can only be raised once per day, and one character’s Popularity can only be raised once per month. Because there are not many level 300 chairs available, it can be difficult to get the maximum effect every week, and this item was released to make up for that.
That said, +10 Attack Power and Magic Attack does not make a major difference unless you are trying to clear at a very tight minimum threshold, so you do not need to buy it every time.
-
Collector’s Elixir : 20 million mesos

This was added as part of the same Collector’s Elixir line, and as you can see, the values are quite high. However, it is expensive accordingly, so it is not something people use all the time, but it can be useful in situations where this elixir is what makes the clear possible.
EXP/Item Acquisition Potions : Boss Drops / Alchemy Crafting

These are items you will use while hunting and in boss reward maps, and their effects are as follows.
-
Small Wealth Acquisition Potion : increases meso acquisition & drop rate by 20% for 30 minutes
-
Wealth Acquisition Potion : increases meso acquisition & drop rate by 20% for 2 hours
-
Small Experience Accumulation Potion : increases EXP acquisition by 10% for 30 minutes
-
Experience Accumulation Potion : increases EXP acquisition by 10% for 2 hours
-
Small High-Concentration Experience Accumulation Potion : increases EXP acquisition by 20% for 30 minutes
Of these, the only one that drops from boss monsters is the Small Experience Accumulation Potion, and the rest can be crafted through the Alchemy profession. They can also be bought from the Auction House, of course.
Additional EXP Coupons : Boss Drops / MVP Rewards

These are the Additional EXP Coupons you should use while hunting. Since they belong to a different category from “EXP Coupons,” they can be used together with EXP Coupons.
-
Additional EXP 50% Coupon / MVP Additional EXP 50% Coupon : lasts 30 minutes
-
MVP Additional EXP 70% Coupon : lasts 30 minutes

These are also commonly referred to as “EXP sprays,” and items within this category do not stack with each other.
EXP Coupons : Event Rewards, etc.

You can obtain EXP Coupons through event rewards, and these can be used together with the Additional EXP Coupons above, while EXP Coupons themselves cannot be used together.
You can get them from many different events, and a representative example is attendance rewards, which commonly give 15 triple EXP coupons per week.
In addition, you can also obtain them from Sunday Monster Park boxes, the Union Coin Shop, and similar sources.
Maple Union : Union Coin Shop

These are buff items that can be purchased with Maple Union Coins. The effects are as follows.
-
Union’s Might : increases Attack Power/Magic Attack by 30
-
Union’s Experience : increases EXP acquisition by 200% (triple coupon)
-
Union’s Wealth : increases meso acquisition by 50%
-
Union’s Luck : increases item drop rate by 50%
The duration is 10, 20, or 30 minutes depending on the tier.

You can buy 20 of each per week, and these buffs are useful in a wide range of situations, including hunting and boss reward maps. However, Maple Union cannot be used in Challengers World, so this does not apply there.
Monster Park : Monster Park

This is the Extreme Potion series that can be purchased in Monster Park. Since they can be used together with other buffs, they are essential.
-
Extreme Red : increases Max HP by 2000 / Attack Power by 30 for 30 minutes
-
Extreme Green : increases attack speed by 1 stage for 30 minutes
-
Extreme Blue : increases Max HP by 2000 / Magic Attack by 30 for 30 minutes
-
Extreme Gold : increases EXP acquisition by 10% for 30 minutes
Among these, Green is generally not used very often now that attack speed has mostly been normalized at the cap, but this can still vary by class, so it is worth checking at least once for the class you chose. Attack Speed Stage 8 is the maximum.

As for coin income, you receive 20 coins per clear, with additional coins available from boxes. Since there are also 2 free entries per day plus Extreme Monster Park, you can simply collect them and use them when needed.
Azmos Elixir

Azmos Elixir is an item that used to be obtainable from the now-removed Azmos Canyon, and it increases Additional EXP by 10%. At present
Union Champion

Union Champion is a buff obtained by spending points earned through monthly content that becomes available once you have at least 2 characters registered as Union Champions. It lasts 30 minutes.

If you are a new player, this is not something you need to worry about right away, and that is even more true in Challengers World.
Buff Items Purchasable from the Cash Shop

-
MVP Superpower Buff : increases Attack Power/Magic Attack by 30 for 30 minutes
-
Sweet Bungeoppang Spray : increases Attack Power/Magic Attack by 30 for 30 minutes
-
Mashur’s Gift Weather Effect : increases Attack Power/Magic Attack by 30 for 30 minutes
These are buff items sold in the Cash Shop, and since all of them stack with each other, you can use them as needed.
The price is 3,000 Cash for 10 Superpower Buffs and 10 Mashur’s Gift Weather Effects, while Sweet Bungeoppang Spray costs 4,000 Cash. They can also be purchased with Mileage, and one important thing to note is that if you buy them through the Buff Manager, they are purchased with Maple Points, so unless that is your intention, you should buy them directly from the Cash Shop.
MVP Superpower Buff, fitting its name, can also be obtained through weekly rewards based on your MVP rank.
VIP Buff

This is a buff item obtainable during event periods. At the moment, it can be purchased in the Meso Shop for 500,000 mesos each.

Because the effect is quite strong, there is especially no reason to skip it for bossing.
Q : There are so many types that it is giving me a headache, so what exactly am I supposed to use?

First, the buffs you currently own can be viewed at a glance through Skills → Sequence → Buff → Buff Manager. If you click something you do not have there, the Auction House, Coin Shop, or other relevant menu will open automatically.

If we look at “which items can be stacked together?” specifically, the most intuitive place to check is the boss practice mode UI. In that practice mode, buffs can be applied as long as you meet the conditions for using them, so it is very useful for things like Challengers World boss missions. If you enter once and click through it, the system becomes much easier to understand. As shown there, most buffs can be stacked together as long as they are not from the same category.
To explain that in a bit more detail, the main split here is the restriction on duplicate use for items that belong to the “potion item” category. Potions with the same effect cannot be used together, and elixirs can only be used up to 2 at a time, so the common setups are usually like this.
-
Sparkling Red Star Potion (Boss Damage) + Meister Skill (Critical Damage 5%) = the strongest setup, but because the Meister Skill requires Whetstones, which are expensive (about 4 million each on regular servers, 8 million mesos per use), it is mostly used in situations like minimum-clear attempts
-
Sparkling Red Star Potion (Boss Damage) + Legendary Hero Potion (Atk/M.Att +30) = weaker than the Meister Skill setup, but more cost-efficient
“How far should you go with buffing?” will vary by situation, but if we start with what is commonly called the cost-efficiency line, meaning the essential buffs, it would look like this. In terms of cost, even items like Sparkling Red Star Potions can be expensive early in Challengers World. Even so, you often have no real choice but to use them, and since missions can also be completed through practice mode, it is a good idea to make as much use of that as possible.
-
Noblesse skills : obtainable by joining a guild and participating in weekly content, and the effect is extremely strong
-
Echo of Hero : obtainable through a simple quest
-
Sparkling Red Star Potion : can be bought from the Auction House
-
Legendary Hero Potion : can be bought from the Auction House
-
Seiram’s Elixir : fixed price of 2 million mesos with a very strong effect
-
VIP Buff : can be obtained cheaply or easily from events
-
Extreme Red/Blue : easy to buy from Monster Park
-
Popularity Buff or Honor Elixir : Popularity Buff is free once per day / Elixir when needed
-
Union’s Might : can be bought with a small amount of Union Coins
-
Enhanced 10-Stage Potion : can be bought from the Auction House
Additional buffs you may use depending on the situation would be the following.
-
Advanced Refining Skill (Meister Skill) : the 5% Critical Damage effect is strong, but it consumes 2 Whetstones
-
Collector’s Elixir : strong effect, but fairly expensive at 20 million mesos
-
Mashur (Weather Buff) / Bungeoppang / MVP Superpower : each gives a good +30 Atk/M.Att effect, but they are better bought when you have spare Mileage or resources
-
Lustrous Moonlight Potion : costs around 2 billion mesos, so it is mainly used by top-end players
-
Champion’s Blessing : used after participating in Union Champion content

You can use buffs more conveniently through the “Buff Sequence” feature. Also, the boss multipliers provided by the “Converted Main Stat” site are basically based on having all buffs active, so that is something you should keep in mind. On the converted-stat page, you can configure the detailed buff settings yourself.
Appendix : Hunting Setup
For hunting buffs, this post will keep things a bit more brief. The list below consists of effects that can all be active at the same time.
-
EXP Coupon (3x or 4x) : events
-
Additional EXP Coupon or spray : Auction House / spray used by another player
-
Extreme Gold : Monster Park
-
Hyper Stat : EXP
-
Link Skills : Evan / Mercedes, etc.
-
Union’s Luck / Union’s Wealth : Union Coin Shop
-
Ability (Item Drop Rate / Meso Acquisition)
-
Spirit Pendant : event / Daily Gift
-
Blood Oath Ring : MVP Gold or higher reward
-
EXP Boost Ring : MVP Diamond or higher reward
-
Experience Accumulation Potion or Small High-Concentration Experience Accumulation Potion or Small Experience Accumulation Potion : Auction House
-
VIP Buff : event
Also, after defeating a boss monster, using Union’s Luck + a Small Wealth Acquisition Potion in the reward map is essential. Since Ability will be included in your item drop rate preset, after switching to that preset, you only need to add those 2 buffs above.
Thank you for reading.
