Personally, I think MapleStory has three main fun factors:

fashion, bossing, and grinding.

I’ve stuck with MapleStory for so long because I really enjoy fashion,

but believe it or not, when I was still a complete beginner, I actually enjoyed bossing even more than fashion, so I spent a lot of time watching YouTube guides and seriously practicing bosses.

Skill matters the most when you’re fighting bosses, but the things that help make up for that, even a little, are your gear and buff items, and since gear is expensive, I usually keep the relatively cheap buff items stocked in my Use inventory.

So today, for beginners who are starting to get into bossing,

I’m going to introduce some boss buff items that are easy to get.

Extreme Red, Extreme Blue

If you run Monster Park, you get day-of-the-week reward boxes, and those can give you Monster Park Commemorative Coins.

You can buy various items with Monster Park Commemorative Coins, and the ones that are useful for bossing are

Extreme Red and Extreme Blue.

Extreme Red gives +30 Attack Power for 30 minutes, while Extreme Blue gives +30 Magic ATT for 30 minutes,

so if your character is an Attack Power class, buy Extreme Red, and if it’s a Magic ATT class, buy Extreme Blue.

Monster Park gives you two free runs a day, and it doesn’t take very long either,

so make sure you do it daily and pick up the buff items you need for bossing.

Union's Might Level 3

If you’re new to MapleStory, one thing you’ll definitely end up doing is leveling Union characters,

and the higher your Union level gets, the more Union Coins you can earn.

With those coins, you can buy various items from the Union Coin Shop,

and among them, Union's Might Level 3 is basically essential for bossing because it increases Attack Power/Magic ATT by 30 for 30 minutes.

Sparkling Red Star Potion, Sparkling Blue Star Potion

Sparkling Red Star Potion and Sparkling Blue Star Potion are easy to get at a low price from the Auction House,

and because the value you get for the cost is so good, I really recommend keeping them stocked in your Use inventory.

If you check your character info window, you can see your Ignore DEF, and if your IED is low, use the Blue Star Potion.

If your IED feels high enough, then use the Red Star Potion to boost Boss Damage.

Popularity Chair Buff

The Popularity Chair is something you’ll commonly see across multiple Zakum channels.

If you raise the Popularity of the player sitting in the Popularity Chair, you can receive a buff,

and the 275 chair increases Attack Power/Magic ATT by 50 for 30 minutes, while the 300 chair increases Attack Power/Magic ATT by 60.

Since you can only raise Popularity once per day,

make sure you use it before heading in to the boss you struggle with the most.
