For me, the main appeal of MapleStory comes down to

3 things: outfits, bossing, and grinding.

Putting outfits together is what I enjoy most, and it has kept me playing MapleStory all this time.

As hard as it might be to believe, though, when I was a beginner, I actually enjoyed bossing more than outfits, so I often watched guides on YouTube and spent plenty of time practicing boss fights.

Skill matters most when fighting bosses, but gear and buff items can help make up for any shortcomings. Since gear is expensive, I tend to keep my Use inventory stocked with relatively inexpensive buff items instead.

So today, for MapleStory beginners who enjoy bossing,

I’d like to go over some easy-to-get bossing buff items.

Extreme Red, Extreme Blue

Clearing Monster Park rewards you with a box that varies by day of the week, and these boxes contain Monster Park Commemorative Coins.

You can spend Monster Park Commemorative Coins on various items, but the ones to pick up for bossing are

Extreme Red and Extreme Blue.

Extreme Red gives you 30 Attack Power for 30 minutes, while Extreme Blue gives you 30 Magic Attack,

so choose Extreme Red if your class uses Attack Power, or Extreme Blue if it uses Magic Attack.

You can run Monster Park 2 times for free each day, and the runs don’t take long,

so make it a daily habit to earn the coins for your bossing buff items.

Legion's Might Lv. 3

If you’re new to MapleStory, leveling characters for your Legion is something you’ll inevitably spend time on,

and as your Legion level rises, you can earn more Legion Coins.

You can spend those coins on various items in the Legion Coin Shop,

but Legion's Might Lv. 3 is a bossing essential, giving you 30 Attack Power/Magic Attack for 30 minutes.

Sparkling Red Star Potion, Sparkling Blue Star Potion

You can pick up Sparkling Red Star Potions and Sparkling Blue Star Potions cheaply in the Auction House.

They offer a substantial stat boost for the price, so I strongly recommend keeping some in your Use inventory.

Check your Ignore Enemy Defense in the Character Info window. If your IED is low, use a Blue Star Potion,

and if you feel you have enough IED, use a Red Star Potion for the extra Boss Damage.

Fame Chair Buffs

You’ll often see Fame chairs at Zakum across various channels.

Raising the Fame of a player sitting in one of these chairs gives you a buff:

the 275 chair grants 50 Attack Power/Magic Attack for 30 minutes, while the 300 chair grants 60 Attack Power/Magic Attack.

You can only raise someone’s Fame 1 time per day,

so be sure to use it before taking on whichever boss gives you the most trouble.
