Lately, I’ve been playing

Maple Planet, one of the most popular servers in MapleStory Worlds, pretty much every day.

A little while ago, I also got together with some friends

to clear a bunch of old-school Maple quests.

The one that stood out most was the Evil Spirit Forest quest,

where you take down the boss monster Faust.

So here’s a full review and guide.

Evil Spirit Forest Quest

You can start the Evil Spirit Forest quest once you hit level 50

and speak to Fairy Arwen in Ellinia.

One thing to note: it’s only available from 5 PM to 7 AM,

so if you’re outside that time window, you’ll need to come back later.

Arwen says she was attacked by a giant monkey,

and angrily insists that Heinz must be the one behind it.

When you go see Heinz, you hear a pretty shocking story.

Long ago, he was lured in by dark magic

and created monsters like Zombie Lupin.

He then asks you to find Pensy in Ellinia North Forest

and look for a clue.

When you meet Pensy, she tells you to defeat Malady

and bring back 10 Cursed Nails.

Malady appears in Forest of Evil Vibes.

Enter through the hidden portal at the top of Forest of Wisdom,

then keep going right and you’ll get there.

Once you bring the nails back to Pensy,

she says she’s figured out the route to the Cursed Forest.

To reach the Cursed Forest, go to Forest of Evil Vibes 1

and take the hidden portal in the upper-right corner.

There, you’ll find Leaf, Heinz’s disciple.

He says that he once wanted to become close with Arwen,

but he couldn’t change her hatred of humans.

In the end, he chose a foolish form of revenge by casting a curse

and wound up creating Faust.

Then, suddenly,

he asks you to deliver an apology to Arwen.

Arwen is angry at first,

but before long, she asks you to deliver Fairy’s Hair to Leaf.

Leaf accepts the apology

and asks you to tell Heinz that he’s sorry as well.

Heinz asks you to defeat Faust,

the cursed creation that is, for all practical purposes, his own doing.

Back in old Maple, Faust was a field boss that spawned at random

every few hours in Forest of Evil Vibes 1 and 2.

But in Maple Planet,

it only appears in Forest of Evil Vibes 1.

We didn’t know that, and one of my friends

mentioned old Maple info saying it also spawned in Forest 2,

so we all ended up wasting about 20 minutes there.

Since this isn’t an official server, after all,

small differences like that can definitely happen!

In Maple Planet, bosses appear after about a 2-minute wait,

but if one has already been defeated, it won’t spawn, so move to another channel

and wait another 2 minutes or so.

Even so, with everyone gathered together, chatting away

and enjoying the game as a group, it didn’t feel like wasted time.

RPGs are fun in their own right, of course,

but I think there’s even more charm in these cozy small group moments,

just talking and spending time together.

After that, we did some party hunting on Path of Time

and kept leveling hard.

Even basic grinding is a blast when you do it together!
