A New Reason to Visit Jeju: Nexon Museum

Nexon Computer Museum has been reborn as the 'Nexon Museum.'
Thirteen years after opening as Nexon Computer Museum in 2013, it has undergone a sweeping renewal, transforming from a simple IT exhibition hall into a cultural space built around the Nexon game brand.
For gamers, that alone makes it one more reason to visit Jeju.
The Space Itself Is Like a Game

Each floor of the Nexon Museum has a clearly defined identity.
On the first floor, 'Ready 4 Play,' visitors can sit side by side with people they have just met and enjoy four-player arcade games.
On the media wall wrapping the outside of the space, the nicknames and game information of players currently in the museum appear in real time, recreating the distinctive atmosphere of an arcade in a physical setting.

The second floor, ‘Inventory,’ is an especially appealing space for anyone with an interest in game history.
It is an archive dedicated to the history of Korean PC package games from the 1980s through the 2000s. Alongside game packages, manuals, and merchandise from the time, visitors can browse around 2,500 digital game magazines.
A documentary marking Nexon’s 30th anniversary is also screened here, and the same floor is home to the special exhibition 'The Kingdom of the Winds: Continuing Winds'.
Visitors can also see original materials of considerable historical value, including nine original works by artist Kim Jin and materials from the 1996 restoration project.
The Heart of This Renewal Is the Third Floor

The third floor, 'Hello, My OOO!' offers an immersive exhibition experience tailored to each visitor’s personal play history by linking with their Nexon account.
Tag your admission card at the kiosk, and a character from the game you have played the most appears on screen. Then a representative NPC from the game of your choice appears and guides you to the anamorphic portal and the large curved LED mirror space.
Once the video ends, Photo Mode is unlocked as well. For anyone who has spent years with Nexon games, from The Kingdom of the Winds to MapleStory, DNF, and Mabinogi, it becomes more than a simple exhibition visit—it is an experience in which your entire gaming life unfolds like a panorama.
In the goods zone, visitors can also purchase a wide range of IP merchandise from DNF, Mabinogi Mobile, Blue Archive, and more, along with museum-exclusive metal badges and newly released artwork desk mats.
A New Pilgrimage Site for Gamers

▲Still, it is fairly close to the airport, at least?
The Nexon Museum is located on Jeju Island. From the Seoul metropolitan area, getting there requires a flight, so it is not as easy to drop by as other game events.
Even so, it offers an archive of 2,500 game magazines, original artwork from The Kingdom of the Winds, and historical materials tied to Korean PC games. It also feels meaningful as a place where you can look back on your own path as a gamer—and leave another trace of it behind.
Someday, I should make the trip myself and see this “pilgrimage site” in person.
