This time, our theme is Virtual Vacation, a look at content set in in-game vacation destinations.

With that in mind, I have gathered some points of interest about Gold Beach Resort, a resort-themed dungeon in MapleStory, along with its full script.

Theme Dungeon [Gold Beach Resort]

1) Gold Beach Resort is one of MapleStory's long-standing theme dungeons, added in 2012. It was the first of the theme dungeons currently grouped in the 30-59 level range to be introduced.

2) Gold Beach, the dungeon's setting, is located in eastern Victoria Island. Various details suggest that it replaced the former Florina Beach.

3) The theme dungeon's story follows a request from Gold Richie's son, Gold Richie Jr., to defeat the slimes preventing the resort from opening. It is unrelated to the main story.

4) Completing the quests earns you a promise of VVIP treatment at Gold Beach Resort once it opens, but no follow-up story has been released. The resort building is visible on the world map and in the town's background.

5) The scenery captures the atmosphere of a seaside resort well. If not for the slime monsters, it would be quite a beautiful destination, with its sea, palm trees, sandy beaches, and clouds. Personally, I think even one additional map unlocked after completing the quests—a resort guest room, for example—would have made it much better, much like the top floor of Kerning Tower.

6) The Black Slimes that have overrun the beach first appeared in Singapore and Malaysia, regions never released in KMS. In the Korean version of MapleStory, however, they now have the official description shown below, identifying them as “byproducts of magical research.” More specifically, they are said to be byproducts of research by 비보 of Aurora, the organization associated with Luminous.

7) The quest item sprites were also taken from items in those regions, modeled after the real-world fruits dragon fruit and rambutan. The Chef's Special is also said to be based on a dish called pepper crab.

8) The quests require relatively few monster kills, and the required items have high drop rates. However, there are many maps to travel through, and you need to visit NPCs in person to turn in quests. A Hyper Teleport Rock makes this much more convenient.

A useful tip for quest items, not limited to this theme dungeon: if you defeat monsters before accepting a quest, try accepting it, going through a nearby portal, and returning. The quest items you need will often become visible.

You need 10 Red Tubes, so it is worth collecting them while defeating Red Tube Slimes.

9) Gold Beach Resort offers the following item rewards, though they see little use in practice.

Flower Tattoo: Obtained by defeating the final boss, Captain Darkgoo.

Gold Beach Member Medal / Octopus Earrings: Obtained by completing all quests.

You also receive 1 million mesos.

10) There are 17 World Archive entries in total, and you can register up to 15 without completing the quests. If you are aiming for the registration rewards, a tour of the area is all you need.

11) The Gold Beach Resort cast also appeared in the 17th-anniversary event [Hotel Maple]. The event introduced Benjamin's romantic partner, who had only been mentioned in the Gold Beach Resort quests. This character has not appeared anywhere else in the game.

The female character in the black suit here is 로이스. Benjamin appeared clean-shaven.
