Summer hunting in Maple with BTS’s Jin!!

Hello!

This is Mapo Fries.

Today, we're taking a look at the new event boss added to MapleStory,

BTS Jin!!

Boss Clear

The event boss "Jin" is basically clearable on almost any character,

thanks to the mechanic where collecting maple leaves increases your damage.

I'll explain that part in more detail in a bit, but the basic idea is that picking up the maple leaves on the ground boosts your Final Damage.

Entering the Boss

Once you enter the boss room,

the fight starts right away with a really cool cutscene.

Mechanics

For Jin, the gimmick matters more than anything else, so let me cover that first.

When you enter the boss room, maple leaves will start dropping on the ground at set intervals like this.

Picking up those maple leaves gives you a Final Damage buff based on the total number of leaves you're holding.

You can collect up to 999 maple leaves,

and if the boss hits you, you'll drop some of them.

The leaves you drop after getting hit disappear after a short time,

so make sure to pick them back up immediately.

Also, boss damage has a cap of 700 billion per hit.

(No matter how high your damage boost gets, it won't go over 700 billion.)

Map Pattern Guide

Jin only has regular boss patterns.

There aren't any separate map-wide patterns, so as long as you learn the boss attacks, anyone can clear it pretty easily.

Phase 1 Guide (100 ~ 75%)

Phase 1 is based on Explorer 1st Job skills,

and it has 3 attack patterns.

1) Power Strike

After briefly showing Perion, he swings his sword forward.

Move behind Jin or get some distance to avoid it.

2) Lucky Seven

After briefly showing Kerning City, he throws stars forward.

Dodge it with a double jump or by ducking.

3) Magic Claw

After briefly showing Ellinia, he uses Magic Claw in front and behind.

You can avoid it by overlapping with Jin, moving far away, or using a double jump.

Phase 2 Guide (75% ~ 45%)

Phase 2 is based on Explorer 2nd Job skills,

and it has 4 patterns.

1) Thunderbolt

After briefly showing Ellinia, lightning strikes under the marked orbs in the sky.

Just stand somewhere without a marker.

2) Savage Blow

After briefly showing Kerning City, he teleports to your character's location and then attacks.

As soon as you see him disappear, keep moving in one direction to dodge it, or use an up jump.

3) Power Strike

After briefly showing Perion, he slashes in front and behind.

You can dodge it by moving around to either side of Jin, but honestly, I recommend just staying a moderate distance away.

4) Arrow Bomb

After briefly showing Henesys, he fires an arrow forward.

Move behind Jin, duck, or use a double jump to avoid it.

Phase 3 Guide (45% and below)

Phase 3 is based on Explorer 3rd Job skills and has 4 patterns.

1) Ice Strike

After briefly showing Ellinia, he moves to your location and uses a wide attack in front and behind.

This one is pretty tough to dodge... but if you run hard in one direction, you can avoid it.

2) Meso Explosion

After briefly showing Kerning City, he creates large Mesos on the ground, which explode and deal damage.

Move into an empty space without Mesos, or dodge it with a double jump.

3) Dragon Roar

After briefly showing Perion, he thrusts forward.

Move behind Jin or get far away to avoid it.

4) Arrow Rain

After briefly showing Henesys, he fires arrows across a wide area in front and behind.

You can dodge it by just staying far away.

5) Doom

After briefly showing Ellinia, he casts a curse.

It applies debuffs like Slow and Big Head.

Wrapping Up

This boss was pretty impressive.

Pretty much every player can clear it, and the only real difference is how long it takes depending on your specs.

I hope you all give this boss event a try too,

and good luck getting those outfit item drops!!
