Today, we’re taking a look at the event boss added to MapleStory,

BTS Jin!!

Boss Requirements

The event boss “Jin” has a mechanic that boosts your damage as you collect maple leaves,

so practically any character can clear this fight!

Picking up maple leaves from the ground increases your Final Damage. I’ll go over how this works below.

Entering the Boss Fight

When you enter the boss room,

a cool cutscene kicks off the battle!

Mechanics

The mechanics are the most important part of the Jin fight, so let’s cover those first!

Once you enter the boss room, maple leaves will drop onto the ground at regular intervals, as shown here.

Picking them up gives you a Final Damage buff based on the total number of leaves you’re currently holding.

You can hold up to 999 maple leaves,

but taking a hit from the boss makes you drop some.

Any leaves you drop after getting hit will disappear shortly afterward,

so be sure to pick them back up right away!

Damage dealt to the boss is also capped at 700 billion per hit.

(No matter how high your damage boost gets, you won’t deal more than 700 billion per hit.)

Map Mechanics Guide

Jin keeps things straightforward: you only have his attack patterns to deal with.

There are no extra map mechanics, so anyone can clear this fight easily as long as they pay attention to the boss’s attacks!

Phase 1 Guide (100 ~ 75%)

Phase 1 is based on Explorers’ 1st job skills

and has 3 attack patterns.

1) Power Strike

Perion briefly appears before Jin swings his sword forward.

Move behind Jin or get far enough away to dodge!

2) Lucky Seven

Kerning City briefly appears before Jin sends throwing stars flying forward.

Double jump or crouch to dodge!

3) Magic Claw

Ellinia briefly appears before Jin casts Magic Claw in front of and behind him.

Stand directly on Jin’s position, move far away, or double jump to avoid the attack.

Phase 2 Guide (75% ~ 45%)

Phase 2 is based on Explorers’ 2nd job skills

and has 4 attack patterns.

1) Thunder Bolt

Ellinia briefly appears, then lightning strikes beneath the orbs shown in the sky.

Just stand somewhere without a marker!

2) Savage Blow

Kerning City briefly appears before Jin teleports to your character’s location and attacks.

As soon as you see him disappear, keep moving in one direction or use an up jump to dodge.

3) Power Strike

Perion briefly appears before Jin slashes in front of and behind him.

You can dodge by moving between his front and back, but I recommend simply keeping enough distance!

4) Arrow Bomb

Henesys briefly appears before Jin shoots forward with his bow.

Move behind Jin, crouch, or double jump to dodge!

Phase 3 Guide (45% or Below)

Phase 3 is based on Explorers’ 3rd job skills and has 4 attack patterns.

1) Ice Strike

Ellinia briefly appears before Jin moves to your character’s location and unleashes an AoE attack in front of and behind him.

This one is pretty tricky to dodge... but keep running in one direction and you can avoid it!

2) Meso Explosion

Kerning City briefly appears before Jin creates large mesos on the ground that explode and deal damage.

Move into a gap where there are no mesos, or double jump to dodge.

3) Dragon Roar

Perion briefly appears before Jin performs a forward thrust.

Move behind Jin or get far enough away to dodge!

4) Arrow Rain

Henesys briefly appears before Jin fires arrows across a wide area in front of and behind him.

Simply move far enough away to avoid the attack.

5) Doom

Ellinia briefly appears before Jin casts a curse.

This applies debuffs such as slow or an enlarged head.

Wrapping Up

This boss really impressed me!

Practically every player can clear it—your stats and gear only change how long it takes.
