Today, I’m going to introduce MapleStory’s Yut Nori event.

Yut Nori? Yep, that Yut Nori.

The very same Yut Nori we play during Lunar New Year.

It looks familiar right away, doesn’t it?

It uses the exact same rules as the Yut Nori we normally play.

Well... except for the “abilities.”

The basic flow is the same as the one we already know.

(1) On your turn, throw the yut sticks and move based on the result.

Do: Move forward 1 space

Gae: Move forward 2 spaces

Geol: Move forward 3 spaces

Yut: Move forward 4 spaces + throw again

Mo: Move forward 5 spaces + throw again

Back Do: Move back 1 space

(2) If you capture an opponent’s piece, you get to throw again.

(3) If one of your pieces lands on a space where your other piece already is, you can “carry” it and move them together.

(4) If all 4 of your pieces go all the way around the board and come back, you win.

But this version adds special abilities on top.

When the game starts, you begin with one power that controls the yut sticks and one power that controls the pieces.

These abilities are drawn fresh every game, and each one can only be used once.

For the power that controls the yut sticks, you get one of these 8,

and for the power that controls the pieces, you get one from here.

Since each ability can only be used once per game, figuring out when to use them is important, right?

This round, I got Reverse Gear and I’ll Carry You. Those were my two abilities.

Back Do has a slightly unusual feature, by the way.

If you roll a Back Do here, you immediately end up right before the finish!

So, with my heart pounding, I started the game.

After a fierce battle...

At least I got one piece home first.

But... before I knew it, my opponent had brought in 3 pieces at once first...

and I ended up suffering a humiliating defeat...

I lost the next game too...

After losing several more games in a row...

I completely lost it ㅜㅜ
