Today, I’ll walk you through MapleStory’s Yut Nori event.

Yut Nori? Yes, that Yut Nori.

It’s the same Yut Nori we play on Lunar New Year.

Looks familiar, doesn’t it?

It follows the same rules as the Yut Nori we know.

Except for the “abilities,” that is.

The basics work just as you’d expect.

(1) On your turn, throw the yut sticks and move according to the result.

Do: Move forward 1 space

Gae: Move forward 2 spaces

Geol: Move forward 3 spaces

Yut: Move forward 4 spaces + throw again

Mo: Move forward 5 spaces + throw again

Back-do: Move backward 1 space

(2) If you capture an opponent’s piece, you can throw again.

(3) If your pieces land on the same space, you can “stack” them and move them together.

(4) You win when all 4 of your pieces complete a lap and return home.

Now, add special abilities to the mix

At the start of each game, you receive one ability that controls the yut sticks and one that controls the pieces.

You draw new abilities each game, and each can be used only once.

You’ll get one of these 8 abilities to control the yut sticks.

For controlling the pieces, you’ll get one of these.

Since you can only use each ability once per game, choosing the right moment matters, doesn’t it?

This round, I got two abilities: Reverse Gear and I’ll Give You a Lift.

There’s a slightly unusual detail about Back-do.

If you get Back-do from this spot, you move straight to the space just before the finish!

I was eager to see how the game would go.

After a close battle...

I was the first to get a piece home.

But... before I knew it, my opponent brought 3 pieces home at once and took the lead...

It ended in a humiliating defeat...

I lost the next game, too...

After a few more losses in a row...

I was losing my mind ㅜㅜ
