Today, I wanna chat about Erinn’s hottest couples...

you know, the ones everyone knows about except the actual people involved!

From our adventurer POV, there are definitely couples where

we’ve already planned the wedding and imagined their whole family life in our heads,

while the two of them are still out here fumbling and being painfully frustrating

I’m guessing the second you started reading this,

one particular character popped straight into your head

So come on, let’s gush about them together~

A Human and a Demon, a Forbidden Love?

One of Mabinogi’s most iconic couples has to be Tarlach and Kristell

Though honestly, calling them a couple is a little tricky since they never really get a direct meeting,

which is exactly why so many adventurers feel sad and frustrated over them😢

Kristell, who used to be a succubus, puts in every effort to win Tarlach’s heart,

but unlike other humans, Tarlach doesn’t give in, and she slowly grows more and more obsessed with him

Then, while trying to win someone’s sincere heart,

Kristell realizes the succubus way will never work,

so she chooses to become human and live her life that way instead

And what makes this setup especially wild is that she doesn’t just decide to live as some ordinary villager...

she decides to become a priestess serving the goddess

After that, through the adventurer, she’s able to exchange news with Tarlach once again,

and this is where Tarlach also quietly shows that he does have feelings for Kristell

That relationship where they feel so close to reaching each other, but not quite...

yeah, it had every adventurer sighing in agony😫

From our side, it feels like they could just open up and be together already...

but I guess it just doesn’t feel that simple to them

But there’s one thing that really makes you stop and go, wait...

Kristell’s current transformed appearance is the form of Tarlach’s “sister”

Tarlach still seems to miss and love the sister he lost long ago

So then... why did the succubus choose Tarlach’s sister’s appearance of all forms?

Whether it’s romantic love or familial love, maybe that part doesn’t matter,

and this is simply an ability that lets her imitate the appearance of the person someone is most deeply attached to?

There’s a joke that gets passed around among adventurers,

that if Kristell had taken any form other than Tarlach’s sister,

the two of them probably would’ve already connected their hearts and been living all lovey-dovey by now😅

Even so, for Tarlach, it wasn’t Kristell’s outward appearance that mattered most,

but the sincerity of her heart, and he slowly grew fond of her and still misses her even now...

so in its own way, maybe this still counts as a happy ending~

A Frail Heroine and a Male Lead Who Just Can’t Quite Get There

Next up, we’ve got Tieve and Cadan from Colhen Village

It’s one of the all-time classic love-story clichés:

a beautiful heroine in poor health, and a devoted male lead who wants to protect her~

You might think it’s too obvious to hit hard, but c’mon, the familiar flavor is exactly why it works!

Tieve shines like bright, gentle sunlight,

and she’s portrayed as someone kind to everyone who never turns away when someone needs help

Meanwhile, Cadan comes off pretty stiff and even rude to people other than Tieve

But with Tieve, you can see him show more of his feelings and try to get closer to her

Still, everything he does for Tieve’s sake ends up hurting her feelings instead,

or making things between them turn awkward and creaky

Watching Cadan act like that makes adventurers pound their chests in frustration

Like, why is this guy being so stubborn and so impossible?!

Cadan says it’s all for Tieve, but it’s hard not to feel disappointed because his self-centered side is so strong

If he really wants what’s best for Tieve, wouldn’t it be better to ask her directly and act based on that?

Tieve and Cadan really do serve adventurers a big helping of frustration,

but at the same time, I think that’s exactly what makes us get so deeply invested in them

A couple with lots of little scuffles and all kinds of ups and downs—cheering for you two~!😏👍

Morrighan and Cichol, What Kind of Relationship Do They Have?

Lastly, they’re not a couple, but

there are two characters every adventurer in Erinn can’t help being curious about

Yep, it’s Goddess Morrighan and Cichol!

If you’ve been following the main story all the way through what’s been revealed so far,

then you already know Morrighan and Cichol are very much not on good terms

Morrighan stands with humans, while Cichol stands with the demon race.

At the moment, it looks like Morrighan vanished after sacrificing herself,

while Cichol still seems to be plotting something behind the scenes

We’ve been getting steady little hints that humans can become gods,

and looking at Cichol’s lines, it feels like Morrighan may not have originally been a god either

In the original Mabinogi, the two gods had known each other since long ago and protected Erinn together,

and as far as I know, there isn’t any setting there where Morrighan used to be human

In Mabinogi Heroes, Tieve receives divinity and becomes Morrighan,

so depending on how you read it, that can be seen as a setup where a human becomes a god

So then, what kind of lore will our Mabinogi Mobile give us?

Let’s look forward to seeing it mix parts of each series’ lore with

the mobile version’s own setup to tell a story with its own flavor~

Not just the story of Morrighan becoming a god from being human,

I’d also love for them to really dig into how she and Cichol first became connected
