Today, let’s talk about Erinn’s hottest couples—

the ones everyone knows are a thing except the couples themselves!

Watching from the sidelines, we adventurers have already planned their weddings in our heads

and pictured them settling down together,

while they’re still fumbling around, leaving us wondering why they have to make it so difficult.

I bet a certain character’s face popped into your head the moment you read that.

Let’s talk about them together~

A Human and a Fomor: Forbidden Love?

Tarlach and Kristell are one of Mabinogi’s best-known couples.

Though “couple” might be a stretch, considering they haven’t actually gotten together,

leaving plenty of adventurers heartbroken for them—or just plain frustrated😢

Back when she was a succubus, Kristell tried everything to win Tarlach’s heart,

but unlike other humans, he wouldn’t fall for her, and she grew more and more obsessed with him.

Eventually, Kristell realizes that if she wants to win someone’s heart for real,

she can’t go about it the way a succubus would,

so she decides to leave her succubus life behind and live as a human.

And here’s what makes that such an unusual choice: she doesn’t just settle down as an ordinary villager…

She decides to become a priestess serving the Goddess.

Later, with the adventurer acting as a go-between, she’s able to exchange news with 타르타르 again,

and we get some subtle signs that Tarlach has feelings for Kristell, too.

With the two of them always so close to reaching each other, yet never quite getting there,

all of us adventurers could only sigh😫

From where we’re standing, surely they could just open their hearts and be together…

But I guess it doesn’t feel that simple to them.

There’s one thing that makes me wonder, though:

Kristell’s current appearance is that of Tarlach’s “sister.”

Tarlach still seems to love and miss the sister he lost long ago.

So why did the succubus choose to look like his sister, of all people?

Does her ability copy the appearance of whoever someone is most attached to,

whether that love is romantic or familial?

There’s a running joke among adventurers that

if Kristell had looked like anyone other than Tarlach’s sister,

they probably would’ve gotten together and been living happily ever after by now😅

Still, it wasn’t Kristell’s appearance that slowly won Tarlach over,

but her genuine feelings for him, and he still misses her even now…

So maybe this counts as a happy ending in its own way~

A Frail Heroine and a Hero Who Can’t Quite Get Close

Next up are Tieve and Keaghan from Colhen.

You know this classic romance setup:

a beautiful heroine in poor health and a devoted hero who only wants to protect her~

Too predictable to be any good? Maybe, but sometimes the familiar stories are the hardest to resist!

Tieve is an absolute ray of sunshine, all warmth and kindness,

gentle with everyone and never one to turn away someone who needs help.

Keaghan, meanwhile, can seem stiff and downright rude to anyone who isn’t Tieve.

With her, he lets his feelings show a little more, and you can tell he wants to get closer.

But everything he does for her ends up hurting her feelings instead

or putting more strain on their relationship.

Watching him go about things that way is enough to make us adventurers beat our chests in frustration.

Why does he have to be so stubborn and impossible?!

Keaghan says it’s all for Tieve, but it’s frustrating how much he still makes it about himself.

If he really wants what’s best for her, shouldn’t he ask her what she wants before acting?

Tieve and Keaghan might leave us adventurers tearing our hair out,

but somehow, that only makes us more invested in them.

Through all your bickering and every twist and turn, big or small, I’m rooting for you two~!😏👍

Morrighan and Cichol: What’s Their Relationship?

Last up, they aren’t a couple,

but there are two characters any adventurer in Erinn is bound to be curious about.

Who else but the Goddess Morrighan and Cichol!

If you’re caught up on the main story released so far,

you’ll know Morrighan and Cichol are not exactly on good terms.

Morrighan stands with the humans, while Cichol sides with the Fomors.

As things stand, Morrighan has disappeared after sacrificing herself,

while Cichol still seems to be plotting something.

We keep getting little hints that humans can become gods,

and Cichol’s dialogue suggests Morrighan wasn’t always a god herself.

In the original Mabinogi, these two gods go way back and have long protected Erinn,

and as far as I know, there’s nothing in that lore about Morrighan once being human.

In Vindictus, Tieve becomes Morrighan when divinity descends upon her,

which you could see as a human becoming a god, in a way.

So where will our Mabinogi Mobile take the lore?

Here’s hoping it weaves pieces from each entry together with the mobile version’s own lore

to give us a story with a personality all its own~

I’d love a closer look at not just how Morrighan went from human to god,

but how she and Cichol first crossed paths, too.
