The mentoring system in DNF Mobile I’d like to see return

I’d like to briefly raise a simple thought: I wish the mentoring event would come back to DNF Mobile.

The Hwasan Sect Disciple event held in 2024 was one of the few systems that naturally brought long-time players and newcomers together, and since then, nothing quite like it has really appeared again.

Why the Hwasan Sect Disciple event worked so well

The Hwasan Sect Disciple event, which first opened in May 2024, had a very simple structure.

If a new player entering the Advent Anton Raid for the first time went in with an existing player, both sides received extra rewards.

For veteran players, Anton Raid was already familiar content, so even if the party included one new player, clear times usually were not affected all that much.

You could collect the rewards and also get that small sense of satisfaction from guiding someone through it, so the event was naturally well received.

The fact that it returned once more in October that same year tells you a lot about how positive the response was.

It also encouraged new-player participation by tying into a friend invitation event and offering a rare underwear avatar. And honestly, the atmosphere in the community did feel noticeably different depending on whether that kind of mentoring structure existed or not.

What new players need right now

▲ Instead of mentoring, a disciple Carol raising simulation...

The disappointing part is that none of the raids added afterward had a similar system.

There was no separate mentoring event for the Black Dragon Raid, and the same is true for the currently ongoing Siroco Raid.

The Siroco Raid is available starting at 167,000 Adventurer Fame, but if you build a party right at the entry cutoff, the difficulty jumps quite a bit.

Because of that, parties tend to look more and more for experienced players, and for newcomers, even finding a party starts to feel like a burden.

The two Elite Dungeons are much the same.

New players who got used to easy farming dungeons sometimes step into an Elite Dungeon for the first time, hit a wall, and end up posting about it in the community.

When players run into a point where their progress stalls, that can easily lead to them leaving, so I do think that if a mentoring structure were permanently placed around this stage, the speed at which new players adapt could change in a noticeable way.

If the reputation system could go a step further

DNF Mobile has a reputation system that lets you leave a recommendation or disapproval for party members after a clear.

The basic idea behind it is good, but in its current form, it is a little disappointing that whether your reputation score is high or low, there is barely any practical difference you can actually feel.

▲ This sticker was useful too, but it’s been the same reward for years...

If this system were tied into mentoring and expanded so that records of helping new players could build up or connect to specific rewards, wouldn’t it become a much more meaningful system?

▲ When each reputation season needs new rewards

Something along the lines of how clearing Co-op Extreme of Oblivion gave the Four Guardian Beasts Vermilion Bird creature as a reward.

From the perspective of someone who has played DNF Mobile for more than 1,500 days, the Siroco Raid is now at a point where experienced players can often clear it comfortably even in parties of three or four.

If a mentoring event were added on top of that, bringing one or two new players along would be entirely possible, and both sides would gain something tangible from it.

If this structure were brought back, I can’t help thinking it might change both the atmosphere of the community and new-player retention, even if only a little.
