Hope you’re having a fun and clever time in Erinn?

Sometimes when you’re watching something,

don’t you ever think,

“Oh~ this kind of feels like what Mabinogi’s Erinn would be like,” or

“If Mabinogi were turned into an anime, I feel like it’d have this exact vibe!”?

So today, I wanted to share a few works that feel like such a good match for Mabinogi!

1 Delicious in Dungeon

In the world of Mabinogi, there are dungeons,

and you head inside to clear them, encounter various demon clans, defeat them,

and earn all kinds of rewards along the way

‘Ryoko Kui’s ‘Delicious in Dungeon’ is,

just like the title suggests, a story about a party making its way through dungeons

As they explore, they defeat the monsters they come across,

then cook those monsters and turn them into meals, which makes it a pretty unique story

The shared dungeon setting, the style of the characters’ outfits,

and the overall Western fantasy atmosphere all felt similar to Mabinogi Mobile to me

Mabinogi Mobile doesn’t have you cooking and eating demon clans, of course…

but the two fit together so well that a collab event between them wouldn’t feel strange at all!

What if there were an event where, after a special attack from Maul, the Delicious in Dungeon main party falls into Erinn,

and our Adventurer helps them find their way back to their original world?

The monsters in Delicious in Dungeon feel more like low-intelligence animals,

while the monsters in Mabinogi Mobile feel highly intelligent, almost no different from humans

I’d really love to see the heroes of these two worlds meet—worlds that feel similar, but are still so different😆

You just know we’d get new cooking recipes and all kinds of items too!

2 Little Witch Academia

‘Little Witch Academia’ is the story of a protagonist with basically no talent for magic who enrolls in a witch academy

and works hard to become an amazing witch!

The overall setting feels more modern than Mabinogi Mobile,

but the fact that it revolves around magic makes it a great fit with Mabinogi too

Watching the protagonist’s chaotic adjustment to life at magic school,

you can’t help but cheer her on—while also wondering why she’s acting like that sometimes~

With such a lively lead and her best friend by her side, it’s the kind of work that never gets boring

What especially stood out to me was the way the protagonist and her friend keep trying and moving forward,

and it really reminded me of our Adventurer and their companions😄

There are schools in Erinn too, and they teach magic,

so later on, I think it’d be really nice to tie into that and do a collab with Little Witch Academia~

A witch from another world meeting a mage from Erinn and causing all kinds of fun trouble!

And since it’s all about witches, it could be really fun as a Halloween collab too

3 Howl’s Moving Castle

A classic masterpiece that pretty much everyone knows—‘Howl’s Moving Castle’!

What more can I say~ it’s a work overflowing with a dreamy, mysterious atmosphere~

With all kinds of witches and wizards existing, fighting each other, and even causing war…

it somehow feels a little similar to Erinn, which is in a standoff with the demon clans

It’s so exciting how naturally fantasy elements are woven in everywhere!

And on top of that, there’s the sweet and surprising romance between Sophie and Howl too~

When I think of a huge city like Emain Macha…

it’s easy to picture Sophie and Howl walking with magic somewhere high above those tall buildings

How would it be if the Adventurer guided them around and helped them make happy memories?

Doesn’t that sound amazing just imagining it?🤩

Why not rewatch Howl’s Moving Castle for the first time in a while,

and then play “Merry-Go-Round of Life” in Erinn and soak in the lingering feelings?
