Today, I noticed that one of the keyword missions was to recommend a great anime,

so I thought I would share a recommendation for something to watch while grinding in MapleStory.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

The protagonist, Frieren, is an elven mage with a nearly eternal lifespan, and one of the heroes who defeated the Demon King alongside her companions Himmel, Heiter, and Eisen. After Himmel dies of old age, attending his funeral leaves her regretting that she never made an effort to truly get to know him during their time together.

Determined to understand people this time around, she sets off on an adventure with her new companions Fern, Stark, and Sein. Their ultimate destination is the place where souls rest, Aureole, and the series follows the many stories that unfold as Frieren and her companions journey toward it.

Even if you play MapleStory or Mabinogi and have never watched Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, you are bound to have heard of it:

the series collaborated with Mabinogi in 2024,

followed by MapleStory in 2026.

Collaborations like these work both ways: Frieren: Beyond Journey's End fans pick up MapleStory because of the anime,

while MapleStory players discover Frieren: Beyond Journey's End and start watching.

Writing about this latest Frieren: Beyond Journey's End collaboration on Nexon PEAK made me curious about the anime, so I decided to give it a watch.

My impression was of a gentle, comforting series—the kind of anime you can settle into and enjoy while grinding.

With its heroes and Demon King, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End draws on classic fantasy conventions that fit the world of MapleStory very well.

In MapleStory, too, the Maple heroes and NPCs from various regions band together to defeat the Black Mage and his minions,

and the story now follows their efforts to take down an even stronger final boss, 애런.

Unlike the collaborations with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and One-Punch Man, this one felt right at home.

I would have liked to see events alongside the Frieren: Beyond Journey's End cosmetic items, as Mabinogi offered,

but the collaboration was rushed and had no events, which was a real disappointment.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End currently has 2 anime seasons available, with season 3 reportedly arriving around October 2027.

There is still plenty of time before season 3 airs, so why not watch an episode at a time while grinding?
