In this post, I’d like to talk about game music I’d love to hear performed by an orchestra.

Nexon games are home to countless wonderful BGM tracks.

From lively melodies that bring back that childhood sense of wonder, even after all these years,

to powerful sounds that stir something deep within our hearts...

This music has delighted our ears just as much as the games themselves have delighted us.

If you could hear these game tracks, with all the emotions they evoke,

performed by an orchestra—music at its finest, where so many people’s efforts and individual sounds come together as one—

which game’s music would you choose?

So many wonderful tracks have touched our hearts,

but I’d like to share a few I’d love to hear, grouped by broad themes.

🥁Grandeur

• Counter-Strike Online Lobby Theme <THE BEGINNING OF THE WAR>

• Counter-Strike Online Christmas Lobby Theme <JOY TO THE WORLD>

I’ve chosen 2 tracks that echoed through the lobbies of Counter-Strike Online.

If you enjoyed playing Counter-Strike Online back then, I imagine you still remember the tension and excitement that set in before you’d even left the lobby.

That grand sound heightened the pressure of being split into two teams, each fighting to defeat the other,

and the urgency of knowing that someone would turn into a zombie once time ran out, leaving you unable to trust anyone—

and it all feels just as vivid when I listen today.

Then there’s the lobby music that played during the Christmas season,

a piece so beautifully crafted that I’d go so far as to call it one of the finest Christmas-themed tracks in gaming.

To me, it strikes just the right balance between the lively atmosphere of Christmas and the tension unique to Counter-Strike Online.

• Sudden Attack Former Lobby Theme <OriginalTheme_Lobby>

This is Sudden Attack’s lobby music, a track with such a powerful pull that anyone who played back in the day will instantly hear the sound of a gun being loaded and that familiar voice saying “Make sure you complete the mission successfully.”

With its underlying weight and power setting your heart racing, those trumpet-like sounds that suddenly pierce through the music still send all sorts of emotions surging through me.

I imagine an orchestral performance would draw us even deeper into these tracks, letting us truly feel that grand, almost chest-crushing sound.

☂ Wistfulness

• MapleStory Lith Harbor Theme <Above the Treetops>

Here is Above the Treetops, a masterpiece whose praises have been sung so often that there’s almost nothing left to say.

Even now, it gives me goosebumps and fills my heart with an overwhelming feeling I can’t quite put into words.

You leave Maple Island to advance from a Beginner to a new job,

and this is where you truly start meeting other players and take those first steps into a real adventure,

so the music captures the excitement of setting out, along with the anticipation and strange unease of facing something new.

It’s such a beloved piece that it was also included in Symphony of MapleStory.

• MapleStory Ellinia Tree Dungeon <Missing You>

My next pick is Missing You, the BGM for a hunting ground in the Ellinia area.

Its unusual entrance challenged the idea that hunting grounds could only be reached through portals,

and inside trees that seemed to stretch on forever, you could encounter all sorts of hidden monsters.

This music has a dreamlike quality mixed with a deeply wistful feeling,

somehow leaving you on the verge of tears of longing rather than sadness,

and I think this place and its music may have a curious power to make us yearn for something from the past.

I imagine hearing these pieces performed by an orchestra would stir a complex mix of emotions and leave us deeply moved.

🎺Liveliness

• MapleStory Ludibrium Theme <Fantastic Thinking>

This is Fantastic Thinking from Ludibrium, the toy kingdom at the center of Ludus Lake.

As if to bring out the bright, cheerful feeling that toys naturally inspire,

the music lifts your spirits and makes you want to run around and play right then and there.

At the recent Lotte World in MapleStory event celebrating the 23rd anniversary,

experiencing Ludibrium in an amusement park was such a delight,

and I like to think that hearing its music performed by an orchestra could keep that excitement going.

• Crazy Arcade Former Village Theme <Village>

I’ve chosen Village from Crazy Arcade, a game that simply has to come up whenever we talk about great game music.

These tracks were a big part of what made me think, even as a child, “Nexon really knows how to make music,”

and they’re so well crafted that people still talk about them and look back on them fondly today.

The Village music in particular captures that boundless childhood energy, with a lively, unpredictable spirit that could take off in any direction.

This one piece feels like a key to memories that have slipped away amid everything else in life,

so I imagine hearing it and other old Crazy Arcade BGM tracks performed by an orchestra would be an incredibly moving moment.

Those are my picks for game music I’d love to hear performed by an orchestra, grouped by theme.

There are so many other wonderful pieces worth sharing that I couldn’t possibly fit them all into this post,

but if the day comes when I can hear this music filling a vast hall, with so many instruments coming together under a conductor’s direction in a grand, harmonious sound, I think it could be a moment I’d remember for the rest of my life.
