BGMs I’d want for nothing more than to hear them played by a full orchestra...

Hello.!
In this post, I want to talk about game tracks I’d love to hear performed by an orchestra.
Nexon games are packed with countless legendary BGM tracks.
From lively tunes that still bring back that childlike feeling even after all these years,
to weightier pieces that make something deep in your chest start to surge..
They’ve made not just the games themselves, but our ears, happy too.
So if we could hear these game tracks that stir up so many emotions
through an orchestra—the pinnacle of music, where the efforts and notes of so many people come together as one,
which game’s music would you want to hear most?
There are so many masterpieces that have moved my heart,
but I thought I’d list a few I especially want to hear, grouped under some broad themes.
🥁Grandeur
-
Counter-Strike Online Lobby Theme <THE BEGINNING OF THE WAR>
-
Counter-Strike Online Christmas Lobby Theme <JOY TO THE WORLD>
I picked two tracks that used to echo through the lobby in Counter-Strike Online.
If you played Counter-Strike Online back in the day, I really don’t think you could forget that tension and excitement you could already feel from the lobby itself.
The pressure of being split into two teams and fighting to beat the enemy,
and the urgency of eventually turning into a zombie and no longer being able to trust anyone... this majestic sound pushes all of that even further,
and even now, it still feels incredibly vivid.
And the lobby music that played during the Christmas season
is so well made that I’d honestly put it among the very best Christmas-themed game tracks.
I think it blends Christmas’s bright atmosphere with Counter-Strike Online’s signature tension perfectly.

Sudden Attack (old) Lobby <OriginalTheme_Lobby>
If you played Sudden Attack back then, this is the kind of lobby music from Sudden Attack that instantly makes the sound of a gun reloading and the line “So that you may successfully complete the mission.” play in your head automatically.
At its core, it has that heavy feeling that gets your heart pounding, and then that sharp, trumpet-like burst cuts through in the middle... even now, it still sends all kinds of emotions into motion.
If we could hear these tracks performed by an orchestra, I feel like we’d be able to sink even deeper into that overwhelming, chest-pressing grandeur.

MapleStory Lith Harbor Theme <Above the Treetops>
This is one of those masterpieces that almost feels needless to praise at this point—Above the Treetops.
Even now, just hearing it still gives me chills, and fills my chest with a swell of emotion I can’t fully describe.
It plays in a place that feels like the very first step of your real adventure,
when you leave Maple Island behind to advance from a beginner into a new class
and start truly meeting other players,
so the music carries the excitement of adventure, along with the anticipation and strange unease of facing something new.
It’s such a beloved piece that it was also included in Symphony of MapleStory.
-
MapleStory Ellinia Tree Dungeon <Missing You>
I also picked Missing You, the BGM for a hunting ground in the Ellinia region.
It was a place with a new kind of entrance that broke away from the idea of hunting maps being connected only by portals,
and a place where you could encounter all kinds of monsters hidden among trees that seemed to stretch on forever.
What really stands out is how this track lets a dreamlike feeling and, quite literally, a wistful feeling exist side by side.
Rather than bringing tears of sadness, it somehow feels like it might bring tears of longing,
which is why I think this place and its music have a strange power to make you miss something from the past.
If we could hear these tracks in an orchestral arrangement, I feel like they’d move us through so many layered emotions and leave us deeply touched.
🎺Liveliness
-
MapleStory Ludibrium Theme <Fantastic Thinking>
This is Fantastic Thinking, the town theme of Ludibrium, the toy kingdom at the center of Ludus Lake.
As if to highlight the bright and joyful feeling that toys naturally give off,
the music itself lifts your mood and makes you want to run around and play at any moment.
And recently, at the 23rd anniversary Lotte World in MapleStory event,
I got to experience Ludibrium in an amusement park setting in such a satisfying way,
so I can’t help but feel that hearing this music in orchestral form would let that fluttery excitement keep going.
-
Crazy Arcade (old) Village Theme <Village>
When it comes to games famous for great music, Crazy Arcade absolutely can’t be left out, so I picked Village as one of its standout tracks.
These pieces are so well made that they’re still remembered and missed to this day,
to the point that they played a huge role in making me think, even as a kid, that “Nexon really knows how to make music.”
And the Village theme in particular captures that vibrant, unpredictable energy that feels ready to bounce off in any direction from childhood.
Because this one track feels almost like a key that opens up old memories I’d forgotten amid everything else,
I really think hearing this piece, along with various BGM tracks from the old 크아, in orchestral form would be an incredibly moving moment.
So, these were the tracks I picked by theme as music I’d love to hear performed by an orchestra.
There are so many other masterpieces I didn’t get to mention here, so I couldn’t fit them all into one post,
but if the day ever comes when we can sit inside a grand hall and hear music ring out on a huge, harmonious scale, with so many instruments and a conductor coming together as one... I think it might become a moment I could never forget for the rest of my life.
Which tracks would you want to hear?
