MapleStory M Stigma System
팀쿡

This post covers MapleStory M’s unique content system, the Stigma System.
What is a Stigma?
A Stigma is an equippable item obtained by defeating MapleStory M original bosses. (As of May 2026, Arkhan and Azazel are available.)
You can equip it from the Sanctuary of Light tab, and the stats it grants vary depending on the Stigma’s color and grade.

What types of Stigma are there?
Stigma can be divided into the following categories.

There is also a set option that activates when you equip a set.
The activation requirements are:
① Equip Stigma of the same grade
② Equip Stigma of the same color
Both conditions must be met.
For example, if you equip Arkhan’s red-light Stigma of Epic grade, you also need to equip Azazel’s red-light Stigma of Epic grade for the set option to activate.

At the moment, max damage is especially important in MapleStory M, so red-light Stigma are the most popular.
How do you obtain Stigma?

There are several ways to get them, but the main method is through boss clears.
They drop at a low rate, so you will need multiple attempts.

When first obtained, they are character-bound on equip (cannot be traded after equipping), but they can be traded through the Trade Station.
Because of this, high-spec players usually buy them from the Trade Station instead of farming them directly.

They can also be obtained through achievements, but this is limited to once per account.
What it looks like when equipped

As shown above, even if the color matches, the set effect will not activate if the grade is different.

If both the color and grade match, the set effect activates.
How should you equip Stigma?
If you are a high-spec player with a large budget, equip a Unique red-light Stigma set.
If you are in the upper-mid budget range, go with an Epic red-light Stigma set.
If you are in the mid-budget range, go with a Unique blue-light or orange-light set.
If you are on a lower budget, go with an Epic blue-light or orange-light set.
*Green-light is for hunting
