April 29 was MapleStory’s 23rd birthday!

So let’s look back at MapleStory’s 23rd anniversary events and relive some of those old memories too!!

The most insane attendance event ever

For its 23rd anniversary, Maple Story came in with absolutely ridiculous attendance rewards!!

I actually talked about this once before, too.

A Vac Pet you can get literally just by showing up!!

And they’re giving out not one, not two, but 4 of them!!

And one of them can even have its duration extended with Premium Water of Life, which means you can keep using it forever!!

This event runs until June 17.. and with 6 weeks still left,

you can still get 2 Vac Pets even without using the Parade Pass!!

Maple World arrives in Jamsil

The brand-new Maple Island at Jamsil Lotte World!!

And that’s not all — there are tons of Maple collab events being set up outside Lotte World too!!

First up, Orange Mushroom is appearing at Seokchon Lake!!

Apparently Orange Mushroom and Slimes are going to pop up at Seokchon Lake.

And right in front of that, they’re setting up Henesys Square too.

I seriously need to snap some commemorative photos in that plaza full of adorable mushrooms

It starts on May 22, so I definitely can’t miss it — I have to go enjoy it!

Looking back on Maple Story’s major updates

As I was playing Maple, I went back and revisited the areas that were packed with memories from when I first started.

But right from the start, I hit a wall.. Victoria Island got such a huge revamp that a lot of those old nostalgic spots are gone now ㅜㅜ

Still, onto the second stop! Ant Tunnel

I did so much hunting here.. back then even reaching 2nd Job Advancement felt hard

All those memories really come rushing back

And I also took a pretty long break from Maple,

then came back around 5th Job Advancement, and since then I’ve probably run into the Observer dozens of times already!!

Doesn’t it kind of feel like you can see the portal?

And when I was raising level 200 characters for Union, the thing I ran into all the time

was Haven’s One-Eye quest!!

How about it — the nostalgia is hitting, right?

Wrapping up

I think the kind of nostalgia an old game gives you is really complicated.

The feeling of getting scammed back then, the memories of struggling so much, and yet it’s still a game that makes me remember who I was back then

Just like it’s stayed with us consistently for the past 20 years,

I hope we can keep making more happy memories together from here on out too!
