A Complete Guide to MapleStory Quests That Give a Lot of Fame #호감도 퀘스트
마빡도로시

Hello
This time, the focus is on Affinity Quests, looking at some of the more memorable affinity-related quests you can find in the game.
MapleStory does not have a conventional affinity system, but quests that raise Fame and Traits when completed can be seen as an indirect version of that idea.
These only really appear in Victoria Island quests, so depending on how you look at them, they are either remnants from the past or a distinct bit of flavor. Personally, I like them because they make NPC emotions feel more pronounced.
Even aside from that, there are still players looking for Fame quests, so in this post I organized quests that fit this theme, with an emphasis on the ones that award a large amount of Fame. I also included a summary along with each quest’s detailed script and a few related points worth noting below, so even if you skip the dialogue in-game, you can still check the quest contents here.
Summary of quests that give a lot of Fame

First, there is a somewhat obscure achievement called [Handle Your Own Fame Yourself]. Its completion condition is clearing a total of 6 quests, and what sets those quests apart is that each one awards anywhere from 12 to 30 Fame on completion, meaning you can gain 114 Fame in total if you finish all of them.

<The Whole Story Behind the Conspiracy Theory> : Fame 12 / Approx. 3 minutes - Kerning City : JM of the Back Alley
[Kerning City] Dark Swamp → JM's Conspiracy Theory → Mongddatta's Information → Nella's Information → Information Gathering Complete → The Whole Story Behind the Conspiracy Theory
-
<Eliza's Long Sleep> : Fame 20 / Approx. 20 minutes - Orbis : Fairy Krile
[Orbis] Start from the Helping the Town Residents quest line and continue through it
-
<Restoring the Snow Spirit Statue> : Fame 20 / Approx. 5 minutes - El Nath : Jade
A Giant Creature of the Snowfield → The Snowman of Legend → Snowman's Rage → Defeat Snowman → Restoring the Snow Spirit Statue
-
<For Philia> : Fame 30 / Approx. 20 minutes - Magatia : Broker Han
[Magatia] Start from Broker Han's Information quest line and continue through it
-
<Han Taesoo's Reward> : Fame 15 / Approx. 10 minutes - Mu Lung : Han Taesoo
Han Taesoo's Testimony → Master Hong's Disciple → Taoist Priest's Magic → Defeat Tae Roon → Han Taesoo's Reward
-
<Defeating the Sage Cat> : Fame 17/ Approx. 10 minutes - Mu Lung : Master Hong
Weakening the Sage Cat → Sage Cat's Call (light bulb above your character) → Sage Cat's Question → Defeating the Sage Cat
In addition, while it is not included in the achievement, the Timer quest available from 양 in Ludibrium Clocktower also only takes about 10 minutes and gives 11 Fame. If you complete that one as well, your total Fame gained becomes 125.

[Ludibrium] Operation Step 1: Recover the Egg → Operation Step 2: Defeat the Monsters → Operation Step 3 → Cute Baby Bird
Most of these are Master Monster-related quests, and after various improvements, the quest flow and requirements have been relaxed enough that they are fairly easy to do now. Orbis and Magatia take longer than the standalone quests, but even those wrap up quickly if you skip all dialogue. The Premium Teleport World Map feature is helpful here.
There are also additional Fame-rewarding quests in Ariant, Ludibrium, Aquarium, and other areas, but since the amount is minor compared to the time investment, I left them out of this post.
<The Whole Story Behind the Conspiracy Theory> : Fame 12 / Master Monster Dyle Quest
You can start this by accepting the [Kerning City] Dark Swamp quest from JM of the Back Alley in Kerning City.
It is not tied to any other quests, so you can begin immediately, and aside from the fact that Witch Grass has to be gathered with normal attacks, it is a quick quest to clear.

As the script mentions, Rakeris, who appears in this quest, is also connected to the party quest First Accompaniment. Just as King Slime, the boss at the end of that party quest, was born from one of Rakeris's mistakes, the Dyle in this quest also appeared because of her repeated mistakes.

Because of the quest revamp, this appears to be an item you can no longer obtain through the current version of the quest, but you can still find additional related details in the Records Archive of the Dimensional Library. Compared to her enthusiasm, her lack of caution is a little worrying.

What I found interesting about JM of the Back Alley was that, contrary to the shady underworld image that makes him seem like someone motivated only by money, what truly angers him appears to be the disruption to public safety caused by King Slime and Dyle appearing.
<Eliza's Long Sleep> : Fame 20 / Master Monster Eliza Quest
You can start this by accepting the [Orbis] Helping the Town Residents quest from Fairy Krile in Orbis.
In this case, the quest only becomes available near the very end of the Orbis quest line, so you will have to clear the Orbis quests first. Fortunately, it does not take especially long. If you skip all dialogue, around 15 minutes is a reasonable estimate.
You can see the full Orbis quest line in this post, and below I only excerpted the Eliza's Long Sleep portion.

<Restoring the Snow Spirit Statue> : Fame 20 / Master Monster Snowman Quest
You can start this by accepting the A Giant Creature of the Snowfield quest from Jade in El Nath.
It is not connected to any other quests, so you can begin immediately, and aside from the dialogue, the only real requirement is defeating 1 Snowman, which makes it a very convenient quest.

I think Snowman has one of the more memorable backstories among the Master Monsters. Even within the story it is treated as folklore, so there is no way to know whether it is true, but the tale of freezing an entire mountain range for the sake of a child feels very fairy-tale-like in itself.

The statue restored after completing the quest can only be seen briefly, and what stayed with me was that it looks identical to the spirit seen in Arch Mage (Ice, Lightning) skills, so I included the image as well.
<For Philia> : Fame 30 / Magatia Quest
You can start this by accepting the [Secret of Magatia] Deal with the Broker quest from Broker Han in Magatia.
Among the 6 quests included in the achievement, this is the only one that is not primarily focused on a Master Monster, and like Orbis, For Philia is placed almost at the very end of its quest line, so you will need to clear the whole thing.
That said, thanks to various improvement patches, the total time is only about 15 to 20 minutes if you skip everything, and this regional quest line is well regarded by players for several reasons, so if it interests you, it may be worth taking your time with it.
If you are going in without knowing the story at all, the content below may be a spoiler. You can check the full Magatia quest script in the post at this link.
After completing the quest, you must deliver Dreng's Note to Philia at the end in order to receive the Fame.

Be careful here: if you deliver it to either of the two society leaders instead of Philia, you will not receive the Fame.

<Han Taesoo's Reward> : Fame 15 / Master Monster Tae Roon Quest
You can start this by accepting the Han Taesoo's Testimony quest from Han Taesoo in Heavenly Peach Farm.
It is not connected to any other quests, so you can begin immediately, and aside from the slightly annoying requirement of collecting 50 Peach Seeds, it is an easy quest overall.

Personally, one of the most memorable parts of this quest was the idea that if you place peaches on that altar, Tae Roon replies by letter. Even after the quest ends, you can still pick the peaches visible on that tree with normal attacks, place them on the altar, and obtain Tae Roon's note.
<Defeating the Sage Cat> : Fame 17 / Master Monster Sage Cat Quest
You can start this by accepting the Weakening the Sage Cat quest from Taoist Priest in Mu Lung.
It is not connected to any other quests, so you can begin immediately, and even the 100 Cat Dolls are gathered quickly, which makes it a fairly easy quest.
For the Sage Cat's quiz, once you choose to answer the questions, you can simply pick the 2nd option every time.

It is easy to overlook since it is just a passing monster, but in terms of sheer irritation, Sage Cat's way of speaking would probably rank fairly high even by MapleStory standards.
<Ludibrium : Operation Step 3 - Cute Baby Bird> : Fame 11 / Master Monster Timer Quest
You can start this by accepting the [Ludibrium] Operation Step 1: Recover the Egg quest from 양 in Ludibrium Clocktower.
It is not connected to any other quests, so you can begin immediately, but compared to the other Master Monster quests above, the process is a little more tedious. Even so, it does not take long.

In addition, Ghosthunter Bob is mentioned in the description for Timer's Egg among the quest items, but at present you do not encounter him at any point during this quest. It seems to be leftover text from before the quest revamp.
Thank you for reading.
