A Guide to MapleStory’s Different Burning Events #뉴비 #버닝 이벤트

Hello.

This time, the keyword is Burning Events, and the topic is the different burning events that appear in the game.

With that in mind, this post goes over the burning events in MapleStory. From a new player’s perspective, I organized what kinds of events there are, when each one usually runs, and what makes each event different. I also added a few related points that are worth checking together.

[Mega Burning] : 1+2 effect up to level 130

1_00003

1_00002

Mega Burning is a burning event that gives a 1+2 level-up effect up to level 130. It first appeared in 2016, and while it was a fairly notable benefit at the time, enough time has passed that it is no longer even handed out as an event reward. If I remember correctly, its last appearance in an event was in Burning World, the event world that existed before Challengers World.

1_00005

That said, since Extreme Growth Potions can currently be used starting at level 130, you can raise a character to 130 with a Mega Burning Booster and then use those potions afterward to reach 200 comfortably. From a new player’s perspective, that still makes the Mega Burning Booster a fairly useful item.

At the moment, you can get 1 each month from the Day 8 reward of the monthly Daily Gift, which is always available. You can choose either 3 VIP Boosters or 1 Mega Burning Booster. In terms of base value alone, the Mega Burning Booster is obviously better, but this choice was added later for players who would not be able to use the booster even if they received it.

You can also buy it once per month from the Mileage Shop menu in the Cash Shop, but since Mileage already has plenty of competing uses, this tends to be fairly low priority.

[Tera Burning] : 1+2 effect up to level 200

1_00008

Tera Burning is a burning event that gives a 1+2 level-up effect up to level 200. It first appeared in 2018 and remained the main burning event until Hyper Burning was introduced.

1_00013

Even now, level 200 is still an important target for new players, especially for secondary characters used to fill out Union raid member placement. Because of that, Tera Burning is still an appealing event.

1_00015

With Tera Burning, you can receive the items shown above as rewards, and they are more than enough to level to 200 without issues.

1_00018

At present, up to 3 are provided as a benefit in Challengers World, which opens with each major summer and winter update. In practice, that means you can secure 3 level 200 characters there by default.

1_00020

1_00021

In that case, follow the Guide quests up to level 101. Since burning characters cannot use Extreme Growth Potions, from 101 onward you should use the Golden Strawberry Farm available from the event Coin Shop to reach 200. With the burning effect active, hitting level 200 is very fast.

1_00022

One thing to note is that in Strawberry Farm, EXP coupon-type item effects do not apply, and only equipment and skill effects count.

1_00023

In the Cash Shop, it is also included as one of the items in the Welcome Maple Package shown above. Its purchase count appears to reset with each first major summer and winter update. The package costs 9,900 Nexon Cash, and since the other included items are also very cost-effective, it is essentially always worth buying.

1_00025

Meanwhile, the Tera Burning Booster can also be purchased from the Special tab, where purchase counts reset at 6:00 on the 1st of each month. However, since the route to level 200 has been eased quite a bit and the price is not especially low, it falls well down the priority list.

[Hyper Burning MAX] : 1+4 effect up to level 260

1_00010

Hyper Burning MAX is a burning event that gives a 1+4 level-up effect up to level 260. It was originally released under the name Hyper Burning, and after its benefits were upgraded, it took on its current name.

4

Getting 4 extra levels at a time is already a very strong benefit, and recent patches also reduced the required EXP below level 260. As a result, leveling to 260 with this burning effect has become much easier than before.

You can either create a Hyper Burning character or assign the effect to a character that is already level 200 or above. In the latter case, however, you cannot claim level achievement rewards for levels at or below the level where you assigned it.

004_00000

If you create a Hyper Burning character, you can quickly reach level 200 through the Terra Blink event that is provided by default, without needing any additional setup. It functions like a tutorial-style event, and you can reach level 200 in about 15 minutes.

XZVCAADD

The rewards are divided into two categories: growth support rewards and level achievement rewards. For the growth support rewards shown above, you can claim them whether you created a new character or assigned the event to an existing one.

XZVCA

For the level achievement rewards, if you assigned the event to an existing character that was already level 200 or higher, then as mentioned earlier, you cannot claim rewards for levels at or below the level where you assigned it.

As shown above, the rewards available in Regular World and Challengers World are different, and claiming them in Challengers World gives you more rewards.

If you are a new player, creating the character in Challengers World is simply more beneficial, and in that case the point above is no longer really something you need to worry about.

004_00001

Hyper Burning also opens alongside other events such as Challengers World during the first major summer and winter updates. This time as well, Hyper Burning has not ended yet, but Challengers World has already closed. The next Hyper Burning will begin on June 18.

004_00002004_00003

Also, although the distribution method varies, 1 additional Hyper Burning Booster is given after the main event. This time, it was distributed in March with no separate conditions. In the past, it was also given as the final reward of the main attendance event, and it has even been distributed as a booster usable only on Wild Hunter to commemorate the Wild Hunter remaster.

The booster version uses the same level-up effect, and Terra Blink can be used with it as well. The growth support rewards are also the same. However, the level achievement rewards are fixed to Regular World rewards only.

[Burning Beyond] : 1+1 effect from level 260 to level 270

004_00005

Burning Beyond is a burning event that gives a 1+1 level-up effect from level 260 to 270. Thanks to this event, even after reaching 260 through Hyper Burning and completing your 6th Job advancement, you can still move up to 270 quickly.

004_00006

Compared to Hyper Burning, it may not look that impressive on paper since it only adds 1 extra level per level-up. However, because leveling difficulty increases quite a bit from level 260 onward, it is still a very strong benefit.

004_00004

With Hyper Burning and Burning Beyond, you can use extreme growth potion-type items like the ones shown above. Using this winter event as an example, you could obtain Transcendent Growth Potions from another event, so the recommended route was to use them at level 268 and go straight to 270.

The rewards are also fairly solid.

004_00007

For the title reward, some players equip it early in Challengers World so they can start hunting in Grandis sooner, while others save it for later after considering the option duration on the two titles available from Hyper Burning. In any case, the option duration does not count down while it remains in voucher form, so you can decide based on your own situation.

This event also opens at the same time as Hyper Burning, and just like the level achievement rewards, you can only claim rewards for levels above the level where you assigned it.

Up to this point, these are the events people usually think of when they hear “burning,” meaning events built around extra level-up benefits. In MapleStory, though, the term has expanded and is also used for other major events. Among them, the more notable ones are as follows.

[Item Burning] : Event that gives temporary equipment with outstanding performance

1_00011

Item Burning is an event that gives temporary event equipment, and the gear itself is very strong.

0ZX0VC_00000

The event works by first giving you 8 pieces of Challenger equipment (weapon/hat/shoulder/top/bottom/gloves/shoes/cape), which you then upgrade by reaching certain levels and defeating certain bosses.

0ZX0VC

In the most recent Item Burning PLUS, the upper limit was raised compared to the original Item Burning, allowing the armor to be enhanced up to 22 stars. Because of that, there were many cases where players replaced only a few accessories on top of this event gear and still cleared the Union Champion Hard Seren mission.

At present, the difficulty of Seren and Kalos has been reduced significantly through recent patches, so the event itself will likely become fairly easy. That said, the detailed requirements for later missions could still be adjusted, so we will have to wait and see.

This event also starts at the same time as Hyper Burning and is mainly used in Challengers World. If you are a new player, you can simply start in Challengers World, receive all of the events at once, and make use of all of them together. Item Burning equipment remained usable for 1 additional week after Challengers World ended.

Previously, there was a case where the duration was granted one extra time through an Item Burning box, but that will likely not happen again. Also, unlike the earlier events, the equipment is strong enough that this one can only be completed once per account holder, which is an important point to note.

[Change Burning] : Event for gaining lots of EXP and solid rewards through weekly missions

0ZX0VC_00002

Change Burning is the newest event of the group. You transform into an NPC, complete missions, and earn a fairly large amount of EXP and rewards.

0ZX0VC_00003

Based on player response, it seems likely to return regularly in the future. This time the form is Lucid, but Maple Now mentioned that the Black Mage and Will had also been considered, so it seems reasonable to expect a variety of NPC forms going forward.

0ZX0VC_00006

One especially meaningful point about this event is how convenient it is to participate relative to how generous the rewards are. You can clear the weekly missions through about 2 hours of easy Lucid hunting per week, naturally complete the season missions as you progress your character, and handle the dedicated boss without too much trouble. Aside from the final reward, the Finish Attack Effect, it is a very comfortable event to participate in overall.

It was also described as an event meant to address the issue seen in previous Special Worlds, where you had to raise a separate character in another world only for it to disappear once the event ended. That is also a fairly meaningful change.

0ZX0VC_00004

In my own case, I have been participating every week without missing one, and since the grace period is said to be more than 3 weeks, it feels even more relaxed than a typical attendance event.

0ZX0VC_00007

Of course, the final boss does require a certain amount of control and dedicated gear stats. Still, even if you do not clear it, there are no practical restrictions on obtaining the actual item rewards, which is another strong point.

0ZX0VC_00001

As for the rewards, the main highlights are the newly added Adversary-prefix items this time (usable only on Genesis/Destiny/Astra items) and 6th Job skill enhancement materials. It has also been receiving a lot of positive feedback because fully participating in the event lets you buy all of the cubes along with 333 Sol Erda Fragments.

0ZX0VC_00008

On top of that, Adversary Cubes also count toward the cube pity system. Unless the number of cubes is adjusted heavily later on, the amount given in a single event is a major help for tiering up.

Possibly because of these strengths, this event, like Item Burning, can also only be participated in once per account holder, so that is something to keep in mind.

[Champion Burning = Champion Double Up + Champion Challenge] : Coin Shop event through level-range monsters and boss defeats

2222

Lastly, Champion Burning is the event that has gone the longest without returning as of the time of writing. If it is rereleased later, its rewards and structure will likely change more than the other burning events, so it is best to treat this section as a general overview.

Champion Burning consists of two events, Champion Double Up and Champion Challenge, and so far it has been held twice, in August 2024 and February 2025.

2222_00000

First, Champion Double Up has you designate a leader and followers. When you hunt on the leader, you can earn coins for the Coin Shop through weekly attendance, while the followers gain points based on the number of monsters the leader hunted, and spending those points gives them EXP based on the amount used.

2222_00001

The EXP gained by followers is not especially appealing by the standards of the events currently running, so if the event returns later, I would expect the values to be adjusted upward.

2222_00002

One notable feature of the Double Up Coin Shop is that the coins earned through weekly attendance are given separately to the leader and followers, and each side can use the Coin Shop individually. Between the first and second runs of the event, Karma Black Cubes and Karma White Additional Cubes were removed from the lineup. Since there have also been system changes such as cube revamps in the meantime, if the event returns again, the item lineup and prices will likely be adjusted to reflect that.

2222_00003

Champion Challenge, on the other hand, is a boss-clear event divided into Normal Challenge and Perfect Challenge (Special Challenge), with up to 3 characters able to participate for each boss. In the case of Perfect Challenge, each boss is attempted under penalty conditions.

208A1000BD30301B_3

The Challenge Coin Shop has a lineup similar to what players usually call a boss Coin Shop.

2222_00004

In the case of the Special Challenge, it gives an honorary reward if you defeat Hard Verus Hilla with 3 characters. If Champion Challenge is rereleased later, I would also expect the mission bosses themselves to be adjusted in various ways.
