What if a game NPC debuted as a VTuber (Virtual YouTuber)?

VTubers let the real person behind them shine through while giving them a fantasy-world look, and that contrast creates a whole different kind of charm. It almost feels like a manga character has stepped into the real world and started interacting with us.

And then I had this thought: “Okay, but what if a game NPC debuted as a VTuber?”

So I went ahead and made a few.

Luna-chan (Blue Archive Arona)

When she chats with Sensei, Arona sometimes starts talking about the world outside. She says she wants to go out there too and meet all kinds of people.

Hearing that, Sensei suggests a VTuber debut stream, and that’s how Luna-chan begins her activities.

Her VTuber avatar is a small, cute puppy-type girl with lightly permed hair. Personality-wise, she’s pure puppy too—full of aegyo, with adorable energy in every little thing she says, so she’s the kind of streamer viewers naturally end up loving.

Her main content is reviewing new items from Angel 24 convenience stores, but honestly, most of the time it’s just her giggling, “It’s yummy~ ehehe.” You kind of start wondering whether the goal is actually to deliver information or not, but the viewers are extremely satisfied and keep saying Luna-chan’s reviews are the best.

Recently, after hosting the Angel 24 Convenience Store Best Products World Cup and breaking 1 million views, she’s been doing World Cup streams regularly too.

She also does proxy gacha streams now and then, but for some reason, the results are always bad.

Oneria (DNF Mobile Neria)

Her streaming name is Oneria. It comes from combining her original name, Neria, with “onee-san.”

After spending her time in DNF Mobile as a guide, welcoming countless newbies and returning adventurers, she started streaming because she thought, “I wish there were a place where we could talk a little more comfortably.”

Instead of being just one more passing encounter inside a game, she wanted to create a space like a familiar little pub you can drop by at the end of the day.

Her VTuber concept is a mature big-sis-style bar master. The design keeps her signature beauty mark by the eye, along with long softly waved hair and a calm-toned shirt and vest.

Her tone is usually gentle and relaxed, but whenever adventurers make reckless choices or get a little too greedy, she’ll tease them with a light scolding like, “Even unnie thinks that one’s a bit much, you know?”

Her main content is late-night pojangmacha talk streams, where she pairs in-game items with real-life food, recommends an adventurer snack for the day, and settles in for deeper conversation over light drinks.

One of her standout charms is that even when she drinks, she never really seems drunk—instead, she gives surprisingly perfect advice for all the adventurers’ worries. She also often collabs with Sushiya from the Moonlight Tavern, since people say their personalities match really well.

Drawing on her background as a guide NPC, she also regularly opens a Lost Adventurer Counseling Center for newbies who’ve just started DNF Mobile.

It’s more about motivation than hard specs, so lines like, “It’s okay to take it slow. The dungeon isn’t going anywhere, after all,” are hugely popular with viewers. Every now and then, though, a viewer gets a little too deep into crying out for mama and full-on age regression energy, and they usually get quietly banned.

Mari (Mabinogi Mobile Nao)

Her streaming name is Mari. It was taken from Mari in her full name, Nao Mariota Pradeiri.

She originally preferred being alone, but after going on adventures with the adventurer, she came to understand the joy of being with someone else. So she ends up choosing VTuber streaming as a relatively low-pressure way to meet other people.

Her VTuber concept is a mysterious astrologer with a dreamy, almost ethereal vibe. While keeping Mabinogi’s signature white-toned dress-and-cloak silhouette, she also has tiny stars and moon ornaments faintly floating above her head, and she always holds either tarot cards or a pendulum.

Her eyes look gentle, but it’s hard to tell what exactly she’s looking at, so among viewers there’s a running meme that she’s “looking at the future beyond the screen.”

Her main content is fortune-telling streams themed “An Adventurer’s Day, Read Through Stars and Cards”. Every day, or a few times a week, she does a short live, draws a single card for the day, and uses it to talk through both adventure stories and everyday life.

She naturally blends gaming and fortune-reading by weaving Mabinogi Mobile’s skills, equipment, and the gods of Erinn into card symbolism, saying things like, “Today’s card is Lunge—the charge card that only knows how to go straight ahead. So instead of overthinking everything, it means it’s okay to just go for it once in a while.”

Sometimes, Nao also does Constellation Counseling, Tarot Astrology ASMR streams. She reads out the meaning of the cards in a soft, low voice, along with the real sounds of shuffling cards, turning pages, and gentle chimes.

So many viewers end up falling asleep during these streams that, even when there are thousands or tens of thousands watching, the chat naturally moves pretty slowly. Because of that, it even became a bit of a hot topic when someone dropped a huge donation saying the stream had cured the insomnia they’d been dealing with for years.

Wrapping Up

And that was my little imagined lineup of what it might look like if game NPCs debuted as VTubers.

Which kind of stream would you want to watch the most?
