April 22 is Earth Day. Earth Day celebrations are said to have started with a declaration issued in response to the oil spill in Santa Barbara, California, on January 28, 1969.

Earth Day is a chance to appreciate our planet, think about its environment, and do what we can to help. For my part, I've been making an effort to use fewer disposable products.

Now it's time to jump into our games and do our part to protect the environment! Here are some activities you can try in Nexon games to help the planet. Let's go!

Taking down dirty monsters(?)

First, I set out to defeat monsters that pollute the Earth. In MapleStory, Savage Terminal is full of polluted monsters. Take them down to protect nature and pick up some experience points along the way.

These monsters are low-level, though, so don't expect to earn much experience from them. Still, you can add them to your Monster Collection, so why not take a moment to think about the environment while you hunt?

Fishing

Next up is fishing. Wait, what does a leisurely fishing trip have to do with protecting the environment? As you know, auto-fishing turns up plenty of trash items. Let's fish out as much trash as we can to clean up the water! It already looks pretty clear, though... Heh

After about 1 hour of auto-fishing, you'll end up with things like broken shoes, damaged fabric, and small fish. Sell them as you clear out your bag to earn a little gold. You'll also find decoration crafting parts now and then, so it's worth a try!

Freeing up space

Keeping your bag full because you want to hoard everything—or just can't be bothered to sort it out—contributes to environmental damage, too! You only need to keep as many items as you'll use. Sometimes I leave endless farming running and end up with a bag packed full like this.

I tend to dismantle items I don't have much use for. For example, I turn branches into tannin powder. I end up with quite a lot of tannin powder this way, so I sell half and put the rest in storage.

Runes take up a surprising amount of space, too. Once you've collected enough, it's satisfying to dismantle them all in one go. Let them return to nature(?) and be sure to hang on to those valuable 8-star runes :D
