Many people would love to have a cat in real life, but allergies or busy work or school schedules put that dream on hold.

But surely we're missing out if we don't have one in a game, either? They're cute, they're (almost) free, and they don't shed.

With that in mind, let's take a quick look at the cats of Mabinogi Mobile.

The Strange Cat and the Cat Merchant

If you've played even a little Mabinogi Mobile, you've probably run into the Strange Cat in Tir Chonaill at least once.

He's the fellow you'll visit whenever a limited-time event rolls around, and much like the cat in the devCAT logo, his eyes and mouth give him a rather vacant expression—though he can talk to people just fine. Right now, you can collect acorns from The Kingdom of the Winds 30th anniversary event and trade them for various items.

The Cat Merchant is an NPC you'll mostly meet in dungeons, and this one actually walks around on two legs.

Depending on your quest progress, he also pops up around town: near the inn in Tir Chonaill, in the alley between the town office and the bookstore in Dunbarton, and near the forge in Colhen, among other places. I still remember our first encounter making quite an impression—mostly because I was thinking, "Wait, why is that cat standing up?"

Companion Pets

Even if you don't own any, you can admire them in the companion pet collection, which currently features 11 types of cats.

You'll mainly get them through Lucky Boxes, but events hand out quite a few pet tickets, too. The recent 1st anniversary celebration was especially generous with those tickets, so it looks like plenty of players have adopted a Norwegian Forest Cat this time around.

▲ Cats that certainly know how to stand out

Some of the cats sport outfits ranging from hanbok to maid uniforms and tuxedos, so even a browse through the collection can leave you itching to collect them. As you'd expect from a company named devCAT, there's clearly plenty of care going into those cat designs.
